Have a look Here

Very good shop, and much better than UK prices. Also Highly rated / reputable.

hmm, Thomann are good for some stuff, not sure I'd buy a guitar from them
their prices aren't especially good, most can be found for similar prices over here, and what do you do for returns ?
how much to send a guitar back to Germany.....

moar details please
what style music will be played? particular guitar shape? he a Strat man? LP ? etc
in the meantime..

check out GuitarGuitar clearance and pre-owned sections
lots of stonking deals pop up there.
Cash Converters have some bargains every now & again, if you know what you're looking for.
Ibanez do great budget electrics
and I've been told good things about a generally cheapo brand; Vintage, who do an 'Icon' series that are supposed to actually be thoroughly nice guitars for the money
you should be able to find a Vintage V6 Icon within budget. actually quite fancy one myself, after what I've been told about them

I'd never recommend a guitar without going to try it first, what was their "worn" one? (Can't they get an "unworn" one for the budget?) There are thousands of choices so probably need to slim down your options to get any definative advice.

Thomann is only slightly better on prices than the UK but one thing to watch for is your banks 'exchange fees' as some can be quite high but they do offer a 3 year Warranty.

2 of the exact same models of guitars can sound different and feel different when playing. They might look good online but could sound terrible and the neck might not be what you are looking for. It must be hit or miss buying guitars online.

this is a good price for that particular guitar
