Looking for a good watch

I'm looking for a good watch, heres an example of the style I'm after

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2777733/Trail/C%24cip%3D1500006712.Jewellery%2Band%2Bwatches%3EC%24cip%3D1500006746.Men%27s%2Bwatches%3EC%24Brand%3DCasio.Casio.htm

In fact, I would love that watch, but its a bit expensive for me. I'd like something cheaper, but the same sort of look. Any help would be great.

Taz save your money up and buy one of these. My old chap bought a seiko kinetic 35 years ago, and its still going strong. I've had mine just 4 years, but looking good. They work on the movement of your wrist. no batteries, no winding.

I have a genuine Tah Heuer I got as a wedding present that is similar to this but sapphire cyrstal etc etc. Cost about £700 new, but I haven't worn it for over a year and have been thinking about ebaying it for several months. If interested I can dig out the original box to find the exact model etc, but it will probably take me a day or two to find the box in the attic so pls don't ask if not interested! I'd put it in for a full tag service before selling so that it's like new. As you prob know, these have a lifetime warranty and hold their value really well. I'd need to look around but I think I'd expect to get about £150+ for it, especially as the service will cost about £40! let me know...

Hw long have u had the tag mate?

That's easy to answer because I've been married ten years. Seems like a long time, but this watch is built to last a lifetime plus! To be fair though, I guess it deserves a full service with Tag after that time, although it has been with them three times in its life for battery changes and cleaning etc. However, a full service will presumably come with a report from Tag so that you know the working parts are next to new again. The watch itself - i.e. the casing - could pass for a few months old as it's made of heavy duty stainless steel. Pics coming by Friday which should also give me time to find the original box (trendy grey leather circular one!).

can the casing be cleaned also?
thanks mate!

Can you give me a link to that model on amazon, can't seem to find it. I've seen similar ones though.

EDIT: don't bother I found it now. The sekonda on argos looks interesting too, although I'd prefer a bigger face.

Get into the Boots on line sale now and look for Pulsar watches £100 for £25

as far as I know, a full service gets the whole watch checked and cleaned, inside and out. Btw, found the original leather box with the extra links for the strap inside. No papers yet, but will keep looking for those as I know I didn't throe them away. I'll also get into the jewellers at the weekend and enqire about the fukll service, etc. Don't worry if not interested - I'll go ahead and list on eBay if need be, now that I've invested so much time finding the box!!

I got my watch for £2.99 from Lidl's, it has a 3 year warranty, mineral glass, and is water resistant, oh and it keeps perfect time.

What more does anyone want from a watch?

:-D

What about this for 1/2 the price of your desired watch?

is that a mid or full size tag?

erm...good question. Not sure! It's a man's watch, not a unisex version. Does that make it full? can you tell me how I might tell?

and here is an ebay item with good pictures of a mid-size: 300137490273 Looks exactly like mine but not sure about the size. Still need help on that one...

NOTE: I HAVE NOW PUT THIS ITEM IN A SEPARATE 'FOR SALE' POST AND WILL BE RESPONDING TO THAT RATHER THAN HERE. THANKS.

Edit: Mods removed the separate thread because it's not in my possession, so I will relist when it's back from the jewellers!

I bought this Seiko Sportura SNA017P1 2 years ago. great watch. RRP £350. I see on Ebay you could get it for under £190.

Titanium and sapphire glass. Good brand too.

emma the mod removed it, saying that because it's not in my possession (with jewellers) it can't be put up. I'll do that when it comes back...

Just out of interest i have one of these tag watches and they have to be sent away to a company called lmh or something like that i believe, and they send you a quote before sevicing or cleaning and i believe a service is about £120 OR NEAR THAT.
#24
I've had a tag for years and they are great watches but are expensive, all depends on what you're looking for.
If you're happy with a £2:99 Lidl watch then great but some people like watches just like some people like cars etc, 'horses for courses'
#25
Just to say that I've got my TAG back from the jewellers, serviced, cleaned and strap tightened. It looks so good I've fallen in love with it all over again. Why did I ever stop wearing it? Here's to the next ten years! (so sorry, it's no longer for sale - thanks for those who were interested and PM'ed me).
