Hello All - I need a new laptop but there seems to be 1000s of options - this is what I need:
* A fast laptop to browse the net
* View and edit some word documents
* Open pdf documents
* Must have windows XP or Vista
* Needs to be 80 GB or bigger
* Needs to be made by reliable vendor
* Screen size 15" or bigger
* Budget is around £350.00

I keep on hearing about Novatech is this a reliable make ?
Thanks for any +VE replies

>* A fast laptop to browse the net

For viewing the web a fast laptop is not that important.

Far more important is a fast broadband speed.

Having a fast laptop will not speed up your interent browsing that much.

I doubt Novatech make their own laptops.

There are companies in the far east (Taiwan etc) who make generic laptops and then they can be "badged" to make them appear they come from any company.

My GUESS is that Novatech go to one of these companies and buy laptops and then put a Novatech badge on them.

This does not make them bad laptops, but you dont know who has actually made the laptop and how good or reliable they are.

If you take a company like say Toshiba, they make their own laptops and have a reputation to keep up so will not risk putting out unreliable laptops.

So I would go for a make like Toshiba, HP, Sony, Lenovo (IBM) etc.

The fifth person in a few days with little or no posts wanting others to their dirty work for them, thinking that giving positive feedback is okay.

I had comments removed before because of it but I will say it again. These people want to be spoon food without doing a tiny bit of research.

I have to watch my spelling because the sado who posted above called guilbert53 singled out a post of mine for using the wrong spelling.

What's wrong with knowing how to spell?

Using HERE when you mean HEAR is pretty basic to me and nothing wrong with pointing it out.

After all, helping someone with spelling may help them get a job.

If you wrote a CV and it was full of spelling mistakes then you are unlikely to get that job.

Many people don't know the difference between words like THERE and THEIR and HERE and HEAR and basic errors like this could make the difference between getting that job you have always wanted.

'Stiffnuts by name stuffnuts by reputation' I guess. I joined today and am saddened to see a person like you here - but hey that's the world we live. If you're not into the post dont read it and dont repsond - just move on. I dont have an idea about laptops and hardware and am asking for help - and all of the people who have replied EXCEPT you ofcourse have added something useful - and thank you to them all. If you cant handle me or the other 4 people who posted messages similar to this than go away... read somethine else, reply to something else and stopping being so miserable. Make Love NOT War.

Don't get me wrong, my spelling and grammar are far from perfect (although I do try) but you made such a fuss with guilbert53 that I couldn't help myself from pointing out some of your mistakes for comedic effect, admittedly not that funny. It's more your reactions that's humorous....like poking a testy bear with a stick, excuse the pun stiffnuts.

Thanks for the private message (below), it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ^_^ If only you could have been that polite to the original poster. >_>

If you want to argue then use private messages to do it, the rest of us don't want to listen.

Regarding the laptop, any 15" machine at £300-350 will be running windows, have an 80GB+ hard drive and satisfy your requirements. Futher, at that sort of price they're all going to be much the same sort of machine with build quality that's just about good enough, short battery life and heavy weight.

Grab the next 15" laptop that gets hot on here and you should be fine, or if you can't wait any machine from a reputable seller like Novatech or Dell is fine

Then stop erm....listening. If a post doesn't interest me I usually skip it.. I'd have thought you would follow your own advice and use private messages if you're so concerned about our discussion being public. >_>
