Been looking for a printer, very stressful. :)

At the moment 4 seem to have popped up but still undecided.
Epson Stylus SX515W or SX600
Epson Stylus Photo PX700W
Canon Pixma MP620

I'm not restricting my search to those 4. If anyone has any feedback on any other please say. Thanks.

Ive got around a £150 budget.

Things I want:
Wireless connectivity for mac & PC.
Good quality photo printing
Cheapish ink, (don't mind getting them off ebay)
3 in 1 printer would be great but quality of scanner is low priority.

I'm not bothered about speed of printing.

Thanks to anyone that help. If you just have a printer name i would look around for a good deal. :) Hard to get honest feedback on some printers.

I was recently in the same position as you as my trusty old Canon Smartbase MP360 finally gave up on me. You seem to be looking at the same one's that I was looking at, although I'm less bothered about photo quality. I ended up going for the Epson SX600FW as it was available for about £90 and the reconditioned ink cartridges seemed to be much cheaper than the Canon's (I think I paid about £20-£25 for 4 full sets (16 carts). Having said that, I believe that the Canon is a superior printer in almost all respects, especially quality. The Epson has been great for us so far, but to be honest it's not been used that much, and I certainly havn't tried printing out any photo's on it so can't comment on that. Don't know if this is much help to you. Also, I read some reviews from people saying they couldn't set up wireless networking with the Epson. I use mine wirelessly with no problem, but it is plugged directly into my router. I think the people who had problems were probably novices, lets face it though, wireless networks can be a pain at the best of times.

Hope this is of some help!

Thanks a lot Mike. £20 for ink really does steer me towards an Epson printer, with the current Lexmark printer I pay £40, although i do buy their own branded ink, its a pretty bad printer anyway.

I doubt i will have trouble with the wireless, I'll mainly be using it on a mac which are quite easy to set up.

Looked at a few reviews of Epsons on trustedreview.com and the SX515W seems to come on top although the SX600FW seems to have better features. Also tempted by the HP Photosmart C6380, says it has better print quality but £30 more. Ink is £40 though, not sure whether its the same capacity, and i like the fact you install individual colour.

That HP printer is £100 in some places. Hmmmmm. Tempted.

This is where I bought my ink from, like I say £25 for 4 full sets was the major selling point for me. It was by far the cheapest option for all the printers I looked at.

Forgot to mention - it's bloody noisy when it starts going. Quite handy for us though cause you know it's started printing in th other room!

I've been asked to get a printer for a customer , he just want's me to go out and buy one ,deliver it, install it and he'll pay for it . .........Some people ....
I've searched all over the place and read all the reviews for a printer that has good print quality , scans and has cheap ink . He's not bothered about the wireless capability. So, it had to be a Epson . Came up with 4 .
Epson Stylus SX400 .......................heavy on ink [review]
Epson Stylus SX200 .......................noisy [ review]
Epson Stylus SX100........................paper jam's [review]
the one that had the best review was the Epson Stylus Office BX300F [large capacity inks and there cheap]
All the mainstream shops are selling these at £79.00.
I've managed to find an online price , delivered for £42.00 . [bargain ]
It's no good for you as it has'nt wi-fi capability but anyone on BT broadband using there hubs , it would be ideal . I have my laser printer pluged into my BT hub and it works great .

I have a brand new Canon MP460 ,never been out of the box you could of had cheap .But ,the inks are quite a high price .

Thanks ricko, defiantly looking for the wireless capabilities, have 2 laptops and a PC. As Mike said noise is a good thing, you will know its printing. I'm still getting drawn in by Canon, just realize they offer cashback on some models as well. MP970 has stood out as well, although quite a bit over £150 at most shops I've found this website but never heard of them and their selling at £141.59 although out of stock. This seems to harder the more you look, lol.

Hey, ricko. I'd be really interested to know how you hooked up a laser to a BT Hub (presuming you mean wired, not wirelessly). I know a lot of people have tried to connect a usb printer to the Hub but it's erratic. Some say that the inability to duplex means you get no feedback from the printer when the ink tanks are running low, and that you have to reset it after EVERY print job.

So what printer are you using and how is it configured? PM me if you prefer - this may be off-topic and somewhat boring to printer-buyers!
