A friend of mine wants to start cabbing (be a taxi driver) and he's looking to spend a fair bit upto £250, although preferably less. Any recommendations? Any models he must stay away from? Everyone seems to go for the tomtoms.

Another query: Do you have to subscribe every year once you buy a SatNav?

I guess the main features are that it must have a fairly good reception, good maps, easily stick in and use - nothing complicated and long.

There's a site my friend wanted me to check: www.which.co.uk

It is meant to be a website that compares various models of the same product and give detailed analysis after running various tests on them (sounds very helpful), but you have to pay for it (£1 for trial 30 days, then £7ish A MONTH thereafter). A pound isn't a lot but I feel very dubious about giving my card details to an unknown website (Im guessing) to pay just one pound? I think it's something like 1 in 4 are victims of fraud.

Anyone out there who's subscribed?

i SUBSCRIBED, AND WHEN I HAD FOUND WHAT I WANTED I NOTIFIED THEM THAT I DID NOT WISH TO CONTINUE AND IT WAS CSNCELLED RIGHT AWAY WITH A CONFIRMATION EMAIL. CAN RECOMMEND.

Ok cool, but my concern is more to do with opening the doors for fraud as (far as I know) which.co.uk are unknown by almost everyone. Maybe I'm being over cautious?
But if anyone has had experiances with them please share them, but I think I'll stay away.

So, any bargain SatNavs out there HUKD people?
