Hi all

Looking for a stand for my 37" Samsung LCD & 2 have caught my eye.

Firstly theres the Amazon £50 special http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000T95W14/ref=s9_asin_image_1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-3&pf_rd_r=07KFWA6WZ8RBX7WN6435&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=139042491&pf_rd_i=468294

or Dixons £70 jobbie http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?page=Product&source_id=aw&sku=951876&camp_id=UShopUCare&source_id=aw&camp_id=UShopUCare

The Dixons one is currently being flogged for £169.99 in Currys which is obviously a pre sale inflated price. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1980367628.1198934677@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccddaddmlledlfdcflgceggdhhmdfoj.0&page=Accessory&sku=951876

What I neet to know is would the extra £20 for the Dixons be worth it??

Is it likely to be £20's worth of extra quality??

Cheers for any advice.

Print off the Dixons page and take it to currys or PC World and they will match the price

Did that yesterday to get mine down to £70.00 from £100.00

Worth it for me

Cheers might just try that.

Already tried phoning Currys (call centre - not the local store) but they wouldnt match the Dixons price for store pick up because Dixons only deliver!! Seemed a bit daft.

What stand did you get & whats it like?

Anyone else had experience with similar TV stands?

Go for the amazon one its 20 cm bigger and will suit your tv better. What size is your samsung as the dixons stand seems to small for your 37in tv you do not want the tv to overlap the stand it need to sit on the stand with room to spare on each side of the stand.

Its the Samsung LE37R87BDX 37" Telly I have (Well worth the £599 from john lewis inc 5yr warranty in my opinion).

http://www.johnlewis.com/Technology/Televisions/Televisions/LCD+TV/1284/230418746/Product.aspx

Its H66 x W92 x D8.7cm so there may be a bit of an overhang (although the corners at the front appear to be "cut off" / angled and if they made a full triangle like the Amazon one it might bring them closer in size).

Just called both local Currys near me and both said they would not match Dixons because its online only.

Essentially means that the "same" company would have to deliver it to my house instead of me picking it up from a store for the same price.

Not a huge issue to me but costs them more I would have thought cos they aint lightweight !!

I'll probably pop into one of the Currys to see it in the flesh.

I do not understand what you mean about being closer in size??? the amazon one is 100cm the dixons one is 80cm its 20cm longer from edge to edge. Trust me you do not want a tv stand that is smaller than your tv it will not only look naff but its not safe having the tv overlap the stand you can use a smaller stand if you want but i dont advise it check out av forums for some more help if you need it.

Bought 2 of these, tilt and swivel for £99.98 each + about £2 with quidco etc, Stress free instructions and easy assembly too. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1301734158.1198946470@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccciaddmllmkfelcflgceggdhhmdfoi.0&page=Product&fm=12&sm=4&tm=7&sku=538044&category_oid=-31863
Loads of screws/bolts to accommodate most/all tv's.

Hi

Sorry I probably didnt explain what I meant clearly.

When you look at the pictures the Amazon one is a full triangle with the widest point being right at the front of the stand.

The Dixons one is also triangular but the outer ends of the triangles widest point (at the front) appear to have been chopped off and angled. (I wonder where the 80cm is actually measured from.

it may be that if these bits werent "angled" and it was a full triangle like the amazon one then they might be closer in size.

Not easy to explain in writing !!!

I do get what you mean about avoiding any overhang though and the Amazon one is looking better from that point of view
