Looking for cheapest deal for a heavy parcel courier

Hi. This may be slightly off topic but I have a parcel weighing about 38kg and I'm looking for a courier to ship it (Too far to deliver in person). Most either stop at 30 kg or charge an arm and a leg so any suggestions would be gratefully received.

TIA

PC World deliver to personal addresses for £15 and £8 to business addresses, at some stores you can get away wit £8 charge to personal addresses or u could make up a business name for it to go to!

Yep, if you go to www.parcel2go.com you will find the service. Also if you use Quidco you save a further £2

Don't use P2G. I help out on the ebays P&P board and that company gets so many complaints. I use Staples and they only charge £8 for a 31.5kg two day service. You have to drop it off at one of their shops. DHL and fully trackable.
There is a pinned thread on the P&P board full of couriers. Parcels4delivery is also very good. They are are-seller for ParcelForce. Just under £10 for a two day service and they pick up from your home. If fact they picked four up from me tonight.

I don't think PCworld do a delivery service.

After a bit of investigation I found the best deal was http://www.pharos-international.co.uk/index.php The total for my package including insurance was £13.50 :)

The website says that they'll only take up to 30kg, but after speaking to them direct they said that only applies to overseas shipping and will take up to 40kg in the UK at no extra cost.

Will report back in a couple of days and let you know if the service is as good as the price.

40kg for £13.50, that's a good price. Was that including VAT?
I thought 40kg was a two man or a 1/2 pallet job. Health and Safety etc.
