Because I only need it for side loading Kodi Don't really need 4k. Plus I've read there isn't much differences between them both apart from price. £30-£45 1st gen 2nd £79

Also iv'e read about the bugs in the new 4K. And the remote on the 1st gen is Blue tooth 2nd gen is wifi which has a lag.

this explains also why to go for 1st gen over 2nd: http://www.htpcbeginner.com/amazonfire-tv-2014-vs-fire-tv-2015/

Says on the link you sent most these were fixed December 15 by a update pal.

I do notice sometimes my remote doesn't want to work and I have to take battery's out, I do prefer the 2nd gen box tho it's much smoother

Just thought the new 2nd gen is mainly for people wanting 4k. and my TV is only 720 plasma as it is will maybe upgrade in Jan but still not much 4K material around

Currently using a Raspberry Pi which I think only has 256mb ram so kodi is a bit juddery and slow. So looking for a not to expensive upgrade from that.

Fire Stick I heard is also slow also compared to the box. and an android box is an option but then again there cheap but hardware can go wrong.

Cheapest I can source a 2ng gen in £60 off CEX grade A. 1st gen gumtree £30 but they are hard to find.

Wait a few weeks pal, Amazon are dropping the new fire tv range 20th this month. New fire stick has a quad core processor for example. Might be decent for Kodi and retail remains 35 quid

Amazon reduce the price every other week for 4k box . No one should pay full price. I got the 4k one for only £50

Why not get a android box with 4K and better specs for much cheaper and future proof when/if you upgrade your tv?

I was wondering when the next gen (3rd) was out! October sometime I was thinking the same thing about waiting a few weeks see how the prices shift

There are literally MILLIONS of these android boxes out mate, I would not know where to start!

I hear the Netbox or MiniM8 but thing is with theses boxes they can be a pain in the ass sometimes. I can do all the updates my self I'm a computer technician . Just don't want stuff failing on me on these cheep boxes like hardware.

I have the M8S (non-mini) coming about a year now, 0 issues. Mini M8S seems to be well reviewed too so I don't think you'll have any issues with it. Just download Kodi from the Play store (pre-installed) and you're off.
