My old one has given up on me so would need it relatively quick but could wait 2 weeks or so. What would you guys recommend?
Many thanks

If you can live without an SSD (or have one you can transfer) then the i3-7100U Inspiron 5000 is a good deal. Having a 7000 series CPU gives you full netflix support and faster graphics for gaming.

Screen size?

Note most 15" laptops come with a screen resolution of 1366x768

If you are going to be watching movies try to go for a full HD screen with a 1080 resolution 1920x1080 (though it will push up the price of course)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lenovo-Ideapad-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B019WBDLZI/ref=sr_1_1?m=A2OAJ7377F756P&s=warehouse-deals&ie=UTF8&qid=1481299954&sr=1-1

If you don't mind it being open box have a look at this i7 for a little bit extra, I've had a few Lenovos from warehouse deals and never had a problem, and fantastic prices too. I currently use an ideapad which I run an online business off, and have another lenovo for gaming etc. Fantastic machines imo.

No issues with open box, but have read on hear that the difference between i5 and i7 isn't that noticable. Not sure its full HD either. would the i7 make any difference without the SSD?

The Core M/Celeron/Pentium/i3/i5/i7 branding is only a meaningful indicator of performance when you're comparing otherwise identical chips, as soon as you start comparing chips across ranges it breaks down. All else being equal I'd opt for the 6260U over the 6500U for your use, despite the former being i5 branded and the latter being i7.
