I have heard that Apple Macs cannot get viruses.
Is this true?

Well Yes that is true due to the way you install things on mac's os, virus's and spyware cant be installed.

If you have a look here : http://www.apple.com/getamac/ you will not only find the amusing mac vs pc adverts, but also a better explanation.

at the moment yes but every operating system will have security flaws.
it is only a matter of time before a virus is written for osx but for now thats a lot better than the countless millions for windows..!

Once you turn mac you won't look back ;)

We had a Mini mac hooked upto our 37" HD Tosh TV in the lounge and it was amazing having a home theatre pc along with the web. Really regret selling it now . . Just waiting for leopard to ship with their mac's so I can get a new one :)

do not buy ram or hard drive upgrades from Apple!

You can get them much cheaper from places like Crucial etc
The RAM and HD upgrade is really easy to do on a MacBook.

Take a look at the refurb section of the Apple Store - they have 2Ghz black MacBook there for £874.20 at the moment.

I totally agree with Scrooge.

However, from personal experience, if you're buying a Mac Mini do get the upgrades pre-installed, because its a hell of a job opening those sturdy cases.

MacBooks are very easy to upgrade the RAM and hard disk. Just take out the battery, and there they are! Will take max 10-15 minutes to do at home.

If you're a student, get higher education discounts at htp://apple.procureweb.ac.uk. THat's the official Higher Education Store from Apple. You get 15+% discount on the normal prices, and also a free upgrade to 3 years warranty, in itself worth 200!! The only downside is that you can only access the store from a university network connection.
