I need to buy a new mattress and haven't got a clue what type/ make to go for, I know the best way is to go into a store and try them but this doesn't really give the true experience of actually sleeping on one night after night.

I need a king size, medium-firm or firm, don't particularly want to buy 'cheap' as my sleep is important to me, looking to spend around the £500 - £600 mark but dont mind paying a bit more if there is a make/ type that people rave about.

Please can people post their experiences of buying mattresses such as comfort, quality, life expectancy etc, what's best? Sprung, pocket or memory foam etc? Best & best value make?

All help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Just thought I'd throw in that Ikea offer a 90 day try it at home policy on their mattresses, and they come with a 25 year guarantee.

I've no idea how good they are, and of course there's small print to be read, but at face value it sounds good.
