Hello all,

I need to get one of the above mentioned drives a.s.a.p to replace one thats broken. Need an identical one, so alternatives no good.

Anyone know the best deal for one of those? Around £70 is the best Ive found...

Thanks in advance

I think there maye be a couple of models of this drive. What's the exact model? I can see a 6L300R0 online. Is it this one? Why does it have to be identical?

Micro Direct have it for £62.51 ex delivery. HERE

And you can get 3% QuidCo.

I need to get the chip board off it to get data off an identical drive. Risky I know but cheaper than payin 700 for a recovery specialist!

If you're that desperate Babbler I have one of these that is 3 months old..as I'm not fussed I can let you have it for the cheapest price you can find on the web...I can then replace with a different model...anything to save your data as I know the feeling when I lost all mine 3 years ago...I had over 8000 mp3s that went with the busted drive grrrrrrrr....needless to say I learned the hard way and now do regular backups.

That's the way Currychops! It's a tough but valuable lesson. I just bought a networked 400GB hard drive just for backups. It's busily syncing my drives as I type! :)

Glad to hear you're taking the common sense route Gazbert.

Heya,

Thanks :). This WAS my external backup drive! It was a maxtor external drive and it spiked! :(

Appreciate the offer! Am waiting for computer fair at end of month to see what I can get then.

Have now bought a western digital for backup as they GUARANTEE your data in the warrentee period - unlilke maxtor who just throw it out! :(

Will keep you posted on progress. Much appreciated!

Thanks for the response Babbler...well Western Digital have certainly changed their policy cos it was one of their drives that failed with me and they just exchanged it under warranty even though I asked them nicely to try and repair it.
