Me Vs. John Lewis

Hi there all,

I was wondering if you could all give me a hand. On Saturday I bought a Samsung TV (LE32B450C4W) from John Lewis who gave me this whole speil about how they were guaranteed to be the cheapest and were never knowingly undersold....

So trusting this company I purchased the TV for £349. I then found on here that a different branch of JL were selling it for £299.95! I called them and they refunded me the £50.05p but the thing I am mega annoyed about is that if they had offered it to me at the £299.95 price to start with I could have gone to Currys and they would have matched it plus 10%. Therefor I would have got it for about £270!

So what I ask is that if anyone can find this same TV in a store (not online) please let me know as I still have another 23 days to get back to them and get more refunded!!!

Thanks all!

with john lewis you get a 5 years warrenty for free so going to currys for 10% would not be worth it

I don't care about the 5 Year warrenty as I think they are over-rated as I have never used one! My key concern was price this time and they let me down...

I dont see the problem. They gave you your £50.05p back. And im sure anyone would rather have the 5 year warranty rather than the 10% I know i would.

No, you wouldn't have got it for £270.
According to the Currys web site the price is £349 on that TV so you would have got it for £300 -10% of the difference. http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/editorial/Price%20Promise
The difference was about £49 so it would have been £300 - £4.90
So you only lost out less than £5, not the £30 you are claiming.

Cheapskate, shoulve spent some decent cash and got a telly that lasts for more that 3 years.

Put you feet up, stick the (new) telly on and get over it, it's not like a meteor fell on your head or your nuts got pulled off by a kangaroo.

Where was the other JL store? As you would have had to use the curry near that store and it probably would have cost you more than the transport costs.

+1 JL always before cra... im mean currys.

% years warranty is worth far more than the £5 you would have saved. Blimey have a word with ya self and try to come to terms with the loss.

Oh enjoy the tv.

Galacid, I think your missing the point on Currys pp.
"Price match plus 10% of the difference
We promise we won’t be beaten on price and we check thousands of prices daily to ensure you get the best possible deal. If you do find any of our products cheaper, we’ll not only match the price but also beat it by 10% of the difference."
ie 10% of the £50 not 10% 0f the £299

Well I'd guess that most of us haven't actually been to the shops since you posted as it's the middle of the week and most people are at work in the week. You've got several weeks and I'm sure that if anybody sees it cheaper they will post it - so chill out and don't be so damn impatient!
