Mechanical keyboard

After some info if anyone can help, my son wants to buy a mechanical gaming keyboard and we have read lots of different information on them but it all seems to conflict, some say get red or black switches because blue or brown are more for typing while others say get brown or blue!!!!!! Price isn't to much of an issue although he would like to spend the least possible so he can get a second monitor. His only real request is that the keys light up red to match his tower and led lights around his desk. Any help would be great as we're going round in circles lol

The main difference is how the keyboard is scanned. How it's matrix is made up so there's less chance of ghosting when hitting lots of keys. I've got a microsoft x4 keyboard which is fine but not a mechanic keyboard. Id look at the razer range

As for mechanical keys just use what feels comfortable.
