Memory RAM upgrade?

I have a HP - http://h20195.www2.hp.com/V2/pdf/c00539167.pdf Compaq Presario SR1519UK and it comes with 1 512mb DDR SDRAM. My computer has 3 slots left on the motherboard.

Would it be possible to add anouther 512mb DDR SDRAM to make it 1gb?

If so whats to cheapest one you can get?

And also would you recormend I upgrade my processor?

Easy to add more RAM; go to www.crucial.com/uk and use thier scanner to tell you what you need.

Don't bother upgrading the processor; cost will greatly outweight the minimal advantage. Another GB of RAM will make a big difference.

I'd get 2 512mb sticks and take advantage of the £10 off £30 orders from ebuyer.com via google checkout. You could get two of these, taking your system to 1.5Gb for £34.56 delivered (google checkout+super saver delivery)

Hope this helps.

Alternatively I'd recommend upgrading motherboard, processor and RAM. You can pick these components up quite cheap using google checkout on ebuyer and DDR2 RAM is much cheaper and faster than DDR SDRAM

So can I use 1gb DDR2 RAM in addiation to the 512mb DDR SDRAM RAM Ive got now to take it up to 1.5GB?

No you are getting your DDR2 and DDR mixed up.

You need DDR not DDR2

as airey says get an extra 1gb to be on the safe side, even 1gb total is not a lot these days.

greg_68 is correct; I didn't see you mentioned ddr2

Best to use the scanner provided by crucial to be sure of what you want.

Sorry, I should have made that a bit clearer. You would need a new motherboard to support DDR2 RAM.
