Looking for something to make me mobile.
I will just be checking email and doing some casual browsing
Want something as cheap as possible.

Not in a major rush so can wait for a deal if its to come out shortly. otherwise it would be really useful to get mobile now.

Thanks!

Hi
If you have BT Broadband you could try their mobile service called Bt Anywhere. I use it for £5pm
and find it OK. I have 2 emails setup on it and use the internet to compare prices when I am in the shops and try to get them to price match or better.

As it's only an occasional thing you want; if you have an unlimited data package on your phone, you could connect your phone to your laptop and use it as a modem when out and about.
3G speeds are pretty good. It's what I do.

Could you please explain how to do this? A step by step guide will be much appreciated!

Firstly, I have a nokia smartphone.
Secondly, I have a mac.

It will work with other handsets and on Windows but I only know how to do it on a mac.

Basically what you need to do is check that your mobile can be used as a modem, you can find out in the manual or by installing the software that came with the phone (if there is a modem option then you should be all right).
I know that N-series or E-series or Series-60 nokia's are capable but I'm not sure about Series-40 handsets.
You will need to connect your phone to the laptop either via bluetooth or usb.
Then use the laptop to tell your mobile to connect to the internet, data will be transferred via usb/bluetooth.
And you have your own version of mobile broadband :) (the usb dongles you can buy are essentially just a few bits taken out of a mobile phone)

If anyone wants more detailed information on how to do it on a mac then just ask.
