That's a html notification being abused by a crap website. Not a virus.. Annoying ain't it! Pop up blocker/add blocker browser can help but just ignore and carry on.

Get from the playstore.. Adblock Plus. It's a Firefox browser that blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default

Ok, thanks, it happened twice on The Times website which never has any third party links only adverts, strange how it was soft core porn dating stuff :|

download cc cleaner, Macfee or clean master. all are free for the play store. I like Macfee best.

If android give it a scan with malwarebytes. Don't leave on phone though as slows to a crawl with daily scans.

if you have bt broadband you get mcafee free for pc and android

Yeah. I had it a few months back and going back just caused the phone to vibrate again. Had problems shutting the website because I was flapping a bit and not thinking. Finally got out. I heard it talked about on possibly the Android Central podcast? They said its a harmless notification being abused in the browser, but it frightens people which can lead them to more trouble.

I'm with BT and have free Macaffe on my other devices, never thought I could use it for a mobile.

What phone is it? I'd check you're on official software and then factory reset, your data is compromised, I'd not continue using it until it's sorted.

check all the installed apps especially ones from odd named developers, with low number of downloads, "questionable download source" etc. remove them and close all the tabs in chrome. that should solve the problem.
