s7 I'd say?

Widely accepted that Samsung S7/S7 Edge (and the Note 7 when it isn't on fire) has the best camera.
#3
As I lifetime iPhone user I'd say Samsung.

I've moved from a Samsung note 2, to a Sony expedia C4, and my partner has iPhone, of all of them the Samsung was the best camera, even though the Sony has a larger sensor. Although saying that, the Sony pictures look a bit grainy on the phone screen, but are much better when printed out.

I still rate the samsung as a better camera though.

Google Pixel. DXOmark is normally used as a reference between devices and the Pixel recorded the best ever score.

z3 compact has same sensor as z3 doesn't it?
supposed to be pretty good, dxomark rates it as 79 the same as samsung s5 (1 point behind p9)

sure its not user error? what is wrong with the quality?

Samsung S7 and the new Pixel are awesome

Panasonic CM1 if you don't mind a bit of bulge. It has a massive sensor.

Ive moved away from auto to manual, in the hope the images are better. They suffer from noise. I've tried lots of setting but just not happy. pictures outside often feel washed out. when assessing the lens:-( it's as if there is grease inside it. I have removed the protective layer. had enough of it now.

others have similar issues

I thought manual mode may work better but doesnt

with s6 s7, is the lens not too wide? ie any use for portraits?

z3 is slightly wider @ 25mm equivalent than either s6 or s7

you dont really give any info or samples etc so hard to advise anything about camera
good luck anyway, cant say i have ever had a good camera phone ;)

Everyone knows, in use, it's an Lg G4/5. :)

i raelly like the camera on my xiaomi mi5 and my wife uses it rather than her iphone 6 if we are out and about.

Also take a look at the soon to be released oppo R9S looks like its going to have a monster camera

"On the optics side, OPPO is reportedly squeezing a Sony IMX398 sensor into the phone’s 16 MP camera. Rumors claim the rear shooter will use a dual pixel technology, whose impressive performance we’ve already witnessed in the Samsung Galaxy S7 flagship. The camera’s impressive f/1.7 aperture make capturing photos in low-light environments a lot easier too."

many thanks. Sorry for lack of detail. seems s6 or s7 appear to be popular.

I'll look at my z3c again.

downloaded a dslrapp which could be better.

suspect my lense is contaminated

I use my z3 quite a bit for photos, and indoors with poor light it is terrible, but outdoors with good lighting it is actually not too bad.
It does a fair job in auto mode if the light is good but will automatically enhance the photos when looking at them in the gallery.

Honestly take a look around the dsomark website I posted from above. Don't just go by the score rating but look in particular for whatever your main photography use will be. For example my main use personally is under low light conditions (work in logistics often taking pictures in low light conditions) if you look up as an example the review of the Nexus 6P you can see within the scores it scored best under those conditions for detail preservation (important when mainly any pictures I'm taking are for damage/insurance claims). Although the phones score is dragged down by lack of video stabilization and HDR+ mode (which apparently the new google camera update for the Nexus may fix but no-one yet has compiled a new proper test with the latest software only just out)
Off course within that take into consideration what your budget is. Not everyone will be heading out to buy in what I see personally as the overpriced Pixel range.
GSM Arena under some of the reviews also let you compare real photo's from each device sidebyside.

I actually believe now they more class that device as a camera that has a phone if that makes any sense at all!

I carry a £70 compact camera in my pocket or work bag with a spare battery. Because it has a optical zoom it will beat any camera phone. Worth thinking about as top camera phones cost a packet

I was told by a salesman in Curry's that the Huawei p9 had the best camera on the market and others like iphone and Samsung were trying to use it in their new phones. Don't know if he was yanking me off though.... :-)
