hi there basically I'm with talk talk for the internet and it keeps going down usually message is intermittent sync problems after spending ages with online tech support etc they doing various tested and so called software grades on the router. I suspect the router is the culprit I have various other router's available to me as I have been with sky and vm in the past is it easy to set one of these up instead.

ok so I just put the old sky one on and out in old password and it's working so seems these companies just keep charging people extra money for postage for router's thay we don't need another con.

Aye because postage for them is free. Not.

They send you another router to appease you and get you off the phone. You need to elimate any internal issues( by directly plugging their equipment into the test socket or first point of contact of the telephone line in) if the fault persists insist they send an engineer to either replace their equipment or arrange to get the external network/line investigated and repaired.

​i meant when u join a new company they don't offer u to keep the old router instead they ask u to pay postage for a new one which is silly as it just wastes resources and put costs up.

They are trained to use the routers as a selling point. Even though I had perfectly fine and capable router, when shopping for a new contract they kept trying to sell me on the 'new router that has laser beam projection to increase speeds' or some ****.

My thoughts exactly, I'm all for saving a few quid but I value service more.

no I haven't don't nothing to it. it stopped working when I switched over to talk talk from sky but I have just put it back on and it seems to be working fine for know at least been about 4 hours.

​I was aware but I thought that was more to do with other issues like slow speed which it is didn't think it meant internet down every 2 3 days per 10/12 days.

​yes talk talk router been working for about 5 6 months but keeps going off every few weeks and its getting worse.

​Right I get you, I have an old sky fibre router so I may try it myself as I also have talk talk, but I don't have many issues since I tweaked the settings but its no where as reliable as the sky one. So what details did you enter? Just the wifi password?

​Yes I just switched the router's over and used the old sky password on the router. let me know if it works for u aswell

I might try it later, just out of Interest what talk talk router do you have as mine is the hg633 with the latest firmware, via ethernet I have no problems but it's via wifi is up and down

​no I just use online chat makes it a bit easier. but still pointless

​what do u mean drop. it keeps going off every 5-6days around 8pm till overnight and then it may work on and off in that period usually is working the day after. sometimes a message pops up ur router isn't plugged in or a intermittent synch problem. so I have just switch router's yesterday seems be working fine for the moment will probably find out if it doesn't stop in next 3-4 weeks.

​Well I plugged my old sky fibre router in, it popped up saying an issue with collecting diagnostics and troubleshoot, left it a minute or so and boom its working perfectly!
