As an occasional shopper at Morrisons, I find that when I come to check my receipt, I am very often being overcharged. The problem seems to be mostly advertised offers not being taken off at the checkout? Yesterday, we bought two packs of Xmas tree decorations that were advertised on the shelf as 2 for £5, only to find that offer was over a month out of date. Beginning to think it's more than just incompetence on their part. Anyone else had similar experiences?

Yes, I find this is Morrisons. Out of all the supermarkets I shop in they seem to be worse for it. They also seem to be the worst for having out of date products, I always check for the best dates on food and there has been quite a lot of things I've handed over to staff members for being days and even weeks out of date.

Yes seems to be a regular problem with most supermarkets. When I buy offers I always check the receipt now making sure they have been applied

they should refund you the difference

Well obviously they did, but that's not the point I'm making. The question I'm asking is that as this happens to me so often, is it being done deliberately, because they know a certain percentage of shoppers will always fail to check their receipts? I am cautious of suggesting nefarious reasons for this, when good old incompetence seems more likely, but I can't help but wonder.
Also, who wants to have to queue at CS for a pound or two after every shop?

I think most of their stores certainly in our area, are quite under staffed. Also, and I feel guilty about saying this, some of the staff aren't exactly the brightest and the best. I'm sure they try though.

Although overall good value you need your wits about you when shopping at Morrisons. I always prepare my list online and print it out to take with me. I have two recurring frustrations with Morrisons:-

1) In Aldershot branch, which is my closest, very often the deals I've identified online have not been updated on the prices displayed on the shelves. I regularly have to get things checked before putting them through the till.

2) The thing the REALLY gets my back up is their Morrisons More points system is a shambles. A few times now the points I've accrued show online as being earned but are not issued at the till and I've had to phone the helpline to fix it. Even this doesn't always work and I've had to call two or three times before it's resolved. Always very apologetic and last time they gave me a nice lot of extra points as a goodwill gesture. If this is happening nationwide and folks don't check their More account and make sure the points that show are actually issued Morrisons must be saving themselves a fortune in unissued £5 vouchers. In store and on the helpline they've acknowledged this is a known problem. It's about time it was fixed!

tesco refund double the difference

I shop in Morrisons nearly every week, and would say at least once a month I'm asking for a refund for items that have been overcharged. It's convenient to shop there but I would say it gets frustrating, doubt it's done on purpose, but I'm sure they make a healthy extra profit from all the customers who don't check their receipts. Never had an issue getting a refund, it happens so often that I leave it until I'm in the following week to get it sorted out. Also stock rotation is pretty bad , frequently find the newest batch of items put in front of the old stock, especially noticeable in the fridge departments. I'm one of those annoying people who rummage for the best dated products so maybe notice it more than those who just take whatever is at the front. That said never had an issue with out of date food , just shorter expiry dates than you would expect.

On paper they do but often you have to demand they honour it

Not me that's for sure, by the time I reach the till, the last thing I want to do is hang around some more. Judging by the amount of posts I see on here crying screams of anguish because they paid 75p for an SSD more than someone else, I imagine i may be in a minority here. Talk about returning items to shops because they were a fraction more than another offer....I often think what price do some people put on their time?

For my local co-op they definitely leave them up on purpose. They also fill the shelves with alternative full price items to trick/confuse you

All supermarkets do it, tesco. and asda are the worst for it. They also put the wrong price in front of items to make you pay more.

Just their way of making more money.

FYI check your aldi receipts they always add on atleast 5 items that I havnt purchased or double scan things

I've had this a few times with morrisons, specifically picking up advertised offers to find that the discount doesn't come off at the til so have to ask a member of staff to take the discount off and they have to send someone to check whether there is an advertised offer. Quite frustrating!

I'm a massive cynic generally but have to say that I've only had good experiences at Morrisons when doing my Grandad's shopping there and haven't experienced any overpricing (and trust me, I do check).

My local Co-op seem to suffer a little more but they're generally understaffed and have found them to be really good at correcting the price at the time of purchase, as I keep an eye on things as they go through. Obviously that's much easier when I'm only grabbing a few items there as I tend to do.

My local is often understaffed too. The customer service desk is a nightmare as there is usually only one person on it who also has to deal with customers wanting to buy papers, tobacco and the lottery, the queue often backs up to the self service tills exit so there's been a few times I haven't bothered taking my receipt over.
#24
our Morrsions is far worse than the other stores, every shop something is charged wrong they also insist they have to walk to the item to check it and they often will stop and have conversations along the way very frustrating when you just want to leave, They also dont like you actually leaving the shop if there is a problem I once had several mispriced items and was in a hurry to leave and was told they wouldnt do anything if i left the store!
#25
Beats me why anyone shops in morrisons ( apart from genuine nothing near it location wise), virtually everything is more expensive , apart from the special offers . Short staffed , queues on tills , slowest self service of any supermarket , and the most inconsistent , with the assistant nowhere to be seen half the time . Most of their customer base seems to be pensioners who have shopped there for years . Dire.

Not true about every store
#27
We have the same problem, points not going on, offers not going through for the same reason, I message them on twitter or email them. It os ridiculous because of it happens too often.
#28
I have asked many times about the price of an item being higher instore than I have seen online, always get the same answer. Not all our branches have the same offers!
#29
Tesco refunds double of the difference but their customer service is rubbish.

After experiencing this issue couple of times i started checking my receipts right after payment, there is atleast 10%-20% chance of incorrect pricing.

You get most incorrect prices and wrong shopping when you go with kids, so much distraction

Must say, Morrisons is the worst in this, most of the time offers are not available and if products are available at different price than the label.

I find their prices comparatively higher than Tesco and Sainsburys

My local coop is the same, also find I get home after my shop to find I've been charged twice for the same item very annoying.
#31
Always. It's a standing joke now ( though I not laughing) when I go to customer services at the end of my shop. I used to think I was being picky because I have 14 years retail work at J S. It's bad practice, products advertised as an offer don't scan at offer price, old offers, products double displayed often only have one lot priced as an offer. I could go on. I get my refund(s) and contact head office also.

i find this happens a lot at Morrison's, feels like every week I have to complain at customer service

They must make thousands of pounds from such "errors" each year.
