Some proper scumbags in this world, you can't have anything nice these days without jealous idiots ruining it. Hope you find your bike mate.

Horrible this! worst bit is it has you paranoid for months after. Iv had them have a go at mine a few times. I find the best thing to do is make it so they have to make as much noise as possible. They will get through anything given enough time, the only thing that stops them is me or the dog waking up and scaring them off. I find planting something metal that makes lots of noise (like a pan for example) balanced under the cover somewhere so it falls to the ground when removed as well as a shovel behind the gate and that sort of thing is the best way of stopping them. Also a disk lock alarm maybe? Its all about you getting out of bed to chase them off. Hope you get it back in one piece!

Have you posted on Facebook local sites like Spotted in Northampton?

hiya yeah good suggestions thanks. want to get a spotlight out there with sensor, and a camera just funds stopping us. heard a bike was set fire in Northampton today but no other details. Police been visible round here twice today, so something going on. looking at getting a padlock that is alarmed think it's 110 dbl so something to alert for the back gate. then IF get another bike then one for that too aswell as ground anchor, tracker, spot light and cctv camera. (( also thinking a dog too. kids been wanting one for a while 2 birds and all that).

your right it does make you feel paranoid after, now worried about car and house. so going to do major over haul with security.

could bloody ring their necks, suspect some lil teenager scrots.... which would of needed a few esp with Oxford lock on and steering lock.

if you guys are local and could keep your eyes and ears open then we'd really appreciate it.

UPDATE : received a call from police this morning, bike has been found and recovered.... it was picked up last night literally a road away from our home. we did search but being a bike must of been hidden in a property / garage.

it's in the insurance hands now, the lock and cover are gone, it's got no damage to panels except it had been hot wired and indicators ( front ) and mirrors taken off....

it's had 200 miles added to it, so it's been around.

Police have found prints on it, which are being processed. just glad it's been found as only about 30% of bikes are ever found. very low % but being bikes easier to hide.

thank you for all your advice and help, it's had us on edge never been robbed before does not feel nice at all, as so paranoid now.

I hope anyone else who has their bike/ property stolen gets it back, as it's a horrible feeling.

thank you guys x

Glad you got it back! I wouldn't get a dog just for security as they are hard work! but I can honestly say if it wasn't for mine I would have lost my bike at least twice. She sleeps at the back door which is about 3 feet away from the bike and she's barked me up every time anyone has been near it. Definitely helps you sleep knowing they will hear something way before you do!

hiya yeah we've had dogs before for years... Kids been asking for ages, and we're just so paranoid now of someone trying to get in the house. it's knocked confidence of being secure in out home....going to sort security lighting and cctv aswell, so there be all lite up lol, hope their smile for the cameras.
