Hi. I was looking to do this with a Montreal last night. It appears that it doesn't unlock like nokias, etc, and I couldn't find a program.

Any help anyone :?:

Hehe he must be using a spell check program in his browser and it put in Montreal for Motorola :D

I think your best bet is to check out something like howardforums or esato where it should be easy to find info on how to unlock it. I think I remember reading somewhere that it's a bit of a b**** to unlock though.

It is called a "Motorola Montreal". There's no model number by the looks of things. It's a really old brick to be honest. :D I'm surprised it was even locked!

Umm isn't the V3 the RAZR? Not really what I would call an old brick...

Ah... I get it now  eliman01 wants to unlock his mates V3 but duckmagicuk2 sort of drifted his thoughts to an older model, called the Montreal

Still not much out there for unlocking them though. Only places I can find charge you + you need to submit your IMEI number online, which isn't really a good idea.

Well, lets see what I can found out for you...

They do actually unlock remotely apparently...

Motorola V3 Remote Unlock Codes
This is the easiest form of mobile phone unlocking and can be done easily from home, not all phones are compatible with remote unlock codes but fortunately the Motorola V3 is!

Here is how the V3 Razr/Razor unlock works:

1) Press *#06# on your phone's keypad - this will display your IMEI.
2) Type your IMEI in the form below, checking carefully that it is correct. Use the "Buy Now" Button to make the payment.
3) Within 24 hours we will get back to you with your Subsidy/Unlock code.
4) Insert a "foreign" SIM card into your V3 Razor/Razr (i.e. a SIM card other than then one your phone is locked to). You will then be asked for your subsidy/unlock code - simply key in the one we have sent you.
5) Your Motorola V3 Razor/Razr will display a message confirming your phone is unlocked! You can now use your phone with any SIM card/Network.

That Does also mean that as it's done remotely (the same as Nokia's), there may well be software already floating about to do it for free in your own home, if not now, then maybe very soon, It really depends on how eager you are to have it done?

If I spot any unlock software, I will post a link here... 8)

If its that old, then they were always locked to a network, never come across one that wasn't, they were only single waveband too, It is unlikely that they ever planned to unlock them models, nor is it viable for anyone to invest time in writing software to flash it as all brick phones are not exactly popular...

I would have done a part exchange with one of the new phones from orange as they were allowing £10, the 3510i was only £19.99 before PX... 8) (mind you, if you waved the phone about, you might have got arrested for threatening behaviour)

I sent off a few a while back when Tesco's were supplying those green plastic recycling envelopes, allowing you to donate £5 to charity or you have £2.50 in points as well as charity getting £2.50...
I ended up with quite a few pounds worth of vouchers to spend, so did charity... 8)

Thanks for the info + websites above, very useful.

Still not sure about posting IMEI numbers into those non secure webpages.

Also, on the FoneZone site, my anti virus scanner picked up this: VBS:Malware [Script] When clicking on the "Get Your Codes Now" link.

Makes me even more wary of using them  but gives me trust in my virus scanner ;)
