Need a hotel in Antalya region of Turkey

Hi there. I have booked flights to Antalya and now need to book a nice hotel but within a decent price range to stay between the 23rd April - 3rd May 2011.

Can anybody help or have any ideas? Maybe someone can say if places they have stayed have been good. Looking for a good quality 4 or 5 star really but anything good considered.

I am travelling with my wife and an 8 year old boy. We hope to do some sight seeing too.

Thank you for any help.

lara beach is close..i have stayed in the concorde and its 4star all inc and i couldnt fault it..food was excellent-beach and pools perfect..im told most of the big hotels in lara are similar.
Not much nearby but large shopping centres.
Side is popular but i have never stayed in anywhere nice there..the brochures also fail to tell Side has a large rubbish dump which stinks (although it does have ruins but not much to see!) edit-i did not see the dump it could have been sewage smell i guess, but i was told it was a refuse tip)
Alanya is large and noisy but most boat trips go from here.
Phaselis is beautiful
Kemer is nice too.

if you look tripadvisor it may help..but i have travelled most of the area by car and may be able to help if you want me to.

Lara Beach has some superb 4 and 5 star hotels, and most of the hotels run free buses into Antalya, from there you can do the majority of your exploring as Lara Beach doesn't have much - but the hotels there sure make up for it.

Stayed at the Concorde and Delphin Diva, and both are worthy of the 5 star status.

an important thing to consider is will you have transport? cos if not then it will be costly to get to alanya..lara you can get a taxi easily.

Have stayed at the SIDE MARE RESORT & SPA in 2007, all inclusive , ideal for a family . 5 pools and entertainment for the kids too .Mini buses were cheap to get around ...........at the time . Not sure about prices now though .
Never heard of the rubbish tip ............ in SIDE .

its there-well it was last time we went! it stunk at our pool at one hotel we went to if the breeze was the right way. It isnt right in the centre of the town its at the side of the little open market. I must admit i didnt see it but we could smell it and we were told it was a tip...

Anyway we have been there a few times but i wouldnt recommend it. We have stayed there because it was cheap in the past. Ofcourse we werent in the 4 or 5star hotels..if you go a little back from the beach road its rough. This is just my opinion though

i think we were in kumkoy which is classed as side in the brochures.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I have settled for either Lara area or Kemer but don't seem to be able to get many independent deals for hotels in those areas..... everything seems to have been booked up by the big holiday companies to book through ... did everyone book through First Choice etc?

Anybody know of any other sites to check out apart from the holiday companies, Hotels4u or Onthebeach?

From what Plumberman says driving doesn't look like a problem .... anyone have a different view?

im a lady btw and only got one ticket in all the times i have driven there lol

i have booked packages (when we went to lara and side i did) but have been many times flight only and used a car. I went 'on spec' and got hotels where i liked. I found good deals this way, but if its your first time to Turkey Lara or antalya is a good choice.

I use mostly hotels.com and they usually have a 10% code going...and i use quidco..
i can see sealife family resort antalya is £872 all inc family sea view -10% -quidco(i have always got it so far!)

Rixos lares is £1476-10% less quidco all inc.

i have used lowcostholidays (there are codes for them too)

We tend to go too the Kiris/Kemer area for our hols, lots of 4*/5* hotels there ... Our fave is the Limak Limra in Kiris. Their hotel Limak Lara in Lara is highly rated lovely beach front hotel ..
We usually book through Travel Republic, On the Beach or Freedom Direct, just make you sure you check for reviews before you book.

Kemer has a town center full of shops filled with fakes, cafes even KFC , also a lovely marina where you can do boat trips ..

Transfers from Antalya airport takes about an hour as there are 5 of us we book a private transfer.

We have decided to try 2 different places to stay .... and yes ... one is Side ... due to the cost and good reviews on Tripadvisor (Saray Regency through Hotels4u with Quidco).

We will then come back to Antalya for about 3 nights ... although not booked as yet. Nothing seems available at Lara Beach and so may go B&B in Antalya itself.

All in all I think it will work out at about £400 each for the flights, hotels and car hire which is not bad really for 10 nights with (hopefully) day flights.

Thanks to all.

I lived in Turkey for 6 years until 18 months ago and loved it. If you just go and book which hotel you like the look of and location when you get there as they will not be full at that time of the year, you will get a bargain price because they want your trade. All in ones are usually very poor for food quality.
