anything with a fast response time ideal for gaming and with a goodcontrast ratio would be great.
built in speakers would be a bonus, rather than goin throught he hassle of buying speakers separtly

The cheapest I can see that meets all your requirements is the iiyama E1902WS for about £135 (it's £129 excluding delivery at oyyy: http://www.oyyy.co.uk/product.php?xProd=49264).

You might just squeeze a 19" with speakers in for under £100, but I couldn't see any that had a fast response time as well.

Be aware the 360 does not support 16:9 which is standard for all monitors. You need a 16:10 (standard for TVs) in order to avoid a stretched image or letterbox depending on the monitor I believe.

you didn't mention whether you were connecting via VGA or DVI, but you could start here: http://www.ebuyer.com/search/?intStoreID=5&intCatID=12&intSubcatUID=354

connecting through vga, using the original cables by xbox!

Other way round, monitors are 16:10 and TVs are 16:9 (monitors are taller).

There's nothing wrong with letterboxing, that's simply the unneeded extra bits at the top and bottom not being used. However, some cheap monitors will either stretch the image vertically or resize it up so the height is right and chop off the edges.

Does it have to be a monitor, or can it be an LCD that accepts VGA?

Although for another £40 you can get this LG 19" with a digital tuner incorporated too, so you get freeview in with the deal.

Order to pick up from PC World, their price is currently £199, but get them to price match to Amazon (currently £144.92, PC world will price match + another £5.50 taking the in store price to £139.42. Good price for the kit you are getting, and you get high definition in with the deal too.
