Need an Amplifier (and surround sound)

I'm after an Amplifier and surround sound system, a bundle would be great

First of all, if i've got sources that normally output at different volumes, the amp will account for that and always output them all at the same volume, right?

I've got a media center and it outputs lower than everything else so it's annoying to sometimes get blasted when the tv is on something else and the volume isn't set right.

I'm hoping to spend around 100-200, but might go higher for the right stuff

gotter be black too. and the speakers black too

pretty vague i know, but i don't know where to start, so a guide would be a good link

I hate to say it but even a half decent "proper" 5.1 surround amp would set you back £200+ new (unless I am really out of touch!).

2nd hand is your best bet, esp if you really do want good quality kit, so try looking for Denon or Marantz.

These for example :

This is a decent system but it is white in colour, the system is around £300 if you purchase directly from Pioneer

*Jealous* :) I'm still very happy with my STR-DB1080 though I wish it had the component and HDMI inputs.

I'm a big fan of Marantz amps, if he offers it at a good price it'd be a great place to start building a great hi-fi.

going back to my basic question
