I have a 10 year old stepson who knows everything about football (or so he thinks).

He can tell you all the stats of who did what & when. He can tell you who played for who when. He knows everything about nearly every player in football today & that is a given. His knowledge is outstanding.

He plays for his local under 11s & receives awards every year & has now been selected by a league club to go into their development organisation because he shows potential. IE right attitude & good enough skills when he gets the ball.

What he lacks is football strategy. Any ideas of a good book to get him so he can learn that its not all about stats? He needs to learn strategy not stats which he has nailed..

Thanks all.

Inverting the pyramid is a cracking read if your into that sort of thing. Not sure if it's suitable for a 10 year old.

Assuming this is your own ten year old you're offering, I don't think your wife's going to be at all happy when she finds out!
I would at least try swapping for something of a higher value, maybe a sports car or a boat?

P.S.
If you change your mind and do decide to keep him, good luck with everything I wish him all the best and hope that he does well and achieves all his goals (no pun intended) and dreams. :-)

i think his coaches will tell him what to do on the pitch(positioning, passing, defending, etc) to the way they want the team to play and he will learn from that far better than any book

best strategy would be to record his match and then sit down with him afterwards and watch it with him. at the end of it get him to note down what he could of done to improve. hopefully this should assist.

He read the Tony Adams autobiography when he was 7 (which his dad bought him) oO

Will have a read up about it after the game. Thanks

Great advice, watch a LOT of football and listen to the pundits analysing the games afterwards. That will be better than any book.

If he is attending a PDC then just let the coaches tell him what is expected. It is very different to a club coaching setup and they are very strict over the type of play and positioning.

I know dad's think they are helping by coaching but if it is not what the club or PDC coach is expecting you will only confuse the player.

He sounds like he is doing fine for his age as his raw talent has got him spotted.
