you should get a proper fitting for running shoes if you are a serious runner-get instep/arches measured etc.

Why do you think your shoes aren't up to it?

My husband is a runner and he always buys Asics. He says they are the best.
You can get them from about £50 but I think arund £80 for a better pair. Most sports shops stock them. Google the name and there will be loads.

i agree with barky if you 20 miles a week you should get them properly fitted try and search for local specialist running shops that will get you to run and then give you the best shoe based on the way you run

I used to use New Balance when I ran, great shoes that won't cost the earth.

Ok mate, new shoes needed then. If you said you were getting sore shins, then i would have said you needed a visit to a sports masseus. I live in Newcastle, and i go to a shop called 'start Fitness,' very helpfull, and won't just try and sell you the most expensive. Don't know if they're National though, good luck.
