i get 2 red lights on the xbox like this>>>http://static.squidoo.com/resize/squidoo_images/250/draft_lens1697645module5966733photo_ring-of-death-3.png

i just found out my power brick thing is wobbling inside, could this be the cause?

if so where can i get a replacement brick or get this repaired for a non-ludicrous price?

That's for three red lights or one red light/E74.

OP - two red lights is overheating. How long does it take to go to two red lights?

Correct ....3 years now ! ...

Regardless of how many red lights it has MS WILL repair it under warranty as it's easier for them to repair it than argue about it .........just make sure you TELL them it failed with 3 reds...:-D

My mates have done this several times so far !

Does the console get exceptionally hot during this time? Is it well ventilated?

it is ventilated fine, no reason to overheat!

ok - if it's not getting hot, then check the status of the PSU once it goes into 2 red lights. If it's extremely warm it may be the cause of the failure.

yea it is very hot when it turns off and the plug is wobbly, i might just send it off as the disk drive is also ****ed

I had two red lights after about an hour's use everytime. Kept on using it and after a week or two it turned into three red lights so I'm glad I waited instead of paying £60 for repair. Of course I don't know whether this would work for you,

The console repair scheme doesn't cover the PSU - you'd need to speak to one of the MS support people to clarify.

If you do the repair online they'll just ask for the console itself. In which case, you may not actually resolve the issue if the PSU's at fault.

Yes it does !!

They ask for the PSU to be returned when the Console is sent back for repair a 2nd time...which is still free under waranty ...as long as you keep saying it has 3 reds (or RROD) !

I missed the post where it states he's already had it repaired previously. Again, only if you call them- if you do it online they'll only ask for the console.

There isn't one ? If it still doesn't work when they get it back then they'll have to send it back a 2nd time ....WITH the PSU.

And if the console itself is fine and when tested has no fault found, they'll just send it back to him as is, with the exception of wasting a week and a half in the process.

If you sent back a console which had 2 red lights and WAS the console's fault, then yes - you'd get it repaired since a lot of 2 red light consoles evolve into 3 red light. However I don't think this is the case for the OP.

If the console comes back with no fault found and the OP plugs their PSU in and it's still faulty regardless of how many red lights then they just send the console & PSU back a 2nd time.

But they have to say it still shows 3 reds ....:whistling:

Unfortunatley it's time consuming but this is the way MS do their repairs.

You're missing the point - he's not getting 3 red lights. He's getting 2 red lights after an hour of play where the PSU is overheating. They'll test the PSU to be faulty and since it has no extended warranty it'll be a costed repair. Did you not even read what I wrote before, or are you too busy trolling?

I'll make it simple .....MS don't care how many red lights it has.

They will repair it if you LIE and say it failed with 3 reds.....both the console & PSU !

Jesus ..... your hard work.

That's too much of a generalisation - there's no way you can accurately state that. You might have been lucky, but it doesn't make it a blanket rule.

The word is 'you're', not 'your'. I'm not Jesus, but thanks for the compliment.

Contact them and let them know. If it's still showing errors - even momentarily - the problem's still there.
