I have a tassimo great drinks and I buy them in bulk through Amazon pretty cheaply

We jave the tassimo for the oreo. As it's a gift maybe consider which has more agreeable drinks and decide based on that?
#3
I have the Tassimo and love it, but it has mixed reviews. People think the Costa drinks are horrible, but I really like the Caramel Latte one. You can get some pods out of places like Pound Stretcher, B and M's, Amazon etc.

Nespresso! Lovely espresso, but that's pretty much all it makes. If she likes a good coffee you can't go wrong.
#5
Nespresso you can buy the capsules cheap at Lidl £1.79 for 10 xx
#6
I'm pretty happy with my Dolce Gusto machine and I drink plenty of coffee. Usually find the boxes 3 for £10 in our local Asda
#7
Nespresso for various flavours of coffee.

Neapresso is proper coffee in pods. And you need a milk heater / frothed to make latte / flat whites etc. No fancy stuff like Oreo etc you can get pods for around £2 for 20 from b&m. Or £2 for 10 Cart noir ones.

Tesco well the Starbucks ones for £3 for 10 but they are nice.

Tassino is just a drinks machine. That mixes pre made pods with hot water

Nespress machines are on offer in Aldi this week for £50

Sorry forgot to mention she's not a fan of normal coffee (she likes the flavored stuff) and likes hot chocolate. I'm the coffee lover!

If you're going to use it regularly, have a look at the nespresso subscription offers. Machine for £1, and you then top up your coffee account (as I understand). Back on the original question, I'd say nespresso for pure coffee, tassimo for a wider variety of drinks.
#11
As said above, Nespresso is proper good coffee, Tassimo is just a hot chemical-flavoured slurry.
#12
I have had both and it's an absolute no brainier... Nespresso. I won't try and pretend I'm some kind of coffee guru, however having had both I can honestly say the tassimo is cheap and nasty next to the nespresso.

As others have said, nespresso only makes coffee so not what you are looking for (Although it tastes great)! Go to a department store such as John Lewis and you can usually taste them

Nespresso for definite. Tassimo is what we were using, but the drinks are not hot enough whereas my sister has the Nespresso and the drinks are piping hot and way nicer coffee, there's just no hot chocolate/tea pods xxx
#15
owning a tassimo, i have always seem alot more dealson nespresso pods. sods law!
#16
Nespresso definitely. I tried thr tassimo in JL and as a hot chocolate lover I found the Oreo awful- too thin and too sweet. The coffee wasn't great either

Spotted that PG now make tea capsules compatible with Nespresso. Waitrose had them on offer, £2 for 10. Actually quite nice!

We have the Tassimo and we like it. But we also have a Dolce Gusto too and that's good too.

You can buy compatible capsules but certainly not nespresso ones,

As most people have said the Nespresso is by far the nicer quality drinks. A lot of the Tassimo ones in my opinion tasted watered down and for what you pay for them it does not justify the quality. I would go for the Nespresso because the coffee lover in you will prefer it, and get the Mrs some flavoured syrups to go with it and its and win win situation

For a coffee no doubt the nespresso is better, one of the better coffees out there. Tassimo good for variety such as chocolate drinks, coffee etc, depends on what your after I guess

Perfect answer, we are on the same page:)

Nespresso is proper coffee but if you want variety of flavours as well as proper coffee then go for Dolce Gusto. I have both and use my Nespresso for proper coffees but the DG machine for the lattes and hot chocolate. There are also DG compatible pods now. Also Nespresso pods are aluminium and recyclable unlike the others.

Gave our tassimo away, major :( ! most of the drinks were not nice :|

If your mrs just wants low quality, sugary, powdery stuff you should go for the Tassimo.
#26
I have Tassimo and love it.....but not for hot chocolate, which is what you're looking for. The hot choc, whichever brand you choose is disgusting. Thin and watery and hardly just about a tea cup full, if you add a milk pod it just makes it too weak.
#27
Dolce gusto
#28
Lavazza a modo mio if you like espresso, cappuccino and similar coffee hot drinks
#29
Tassimo if you would like drinks other than coffee too.
Nespresso if you just want coffee.

I buy my Tassimo pods in bulk at Amazon makes them alot cheaper :)

I'd second the option for a Nespresso with flavoured syrups although you can get Caramel and Vanilla flavoured coffee pods already. If your budget run to it, stick to Nespresso pods as they're better - I know they're more expensive, but the coffee is better and they seems to dispense properly - some of the other pods can be overpacked and as a result you only get a dribble of water though them.

Nespresso were doing a deal where you pay a fixed amount each month and get the machine for free as the amount you pay goes into your Nespresso account to spend on pods. I think for the top end machines it's £45 a month for 12 months, which all goes into your Nespresso account. So for an outlay of £540 you're getting a £200 machine and £540 worth of coffee with nothing upfront. I don't know if you'd get the machine in time for Christmas though

I have a tassimo which is roughly 2 years old, i haven't used it properly in the past 9 months.. It was lovely to start with, but i found you were restricted with your drink choice, and the company recently changed the recipes of the drinks so they just don't taste the same any more! It's more watery now and feels a rip off when you spend XYZ on the pods and the drinks aren't as satisfying. I know certain stores provide samples so you would really need to go into a store and sample one from each. I think nespresso is more for coffee lovers so if your wife loves her coffee i'd go for that :)

And a side note on the tassimo hot chocolate drinks - you have to sit the pod in hot water for about 30-60 secs for the cadbury pod to melt, otherwise if you put it through the machine some or most of the chocolate gets left in the pod and you are left with a watered down chocolate hinted drink. I found you have to use 2 pods if you wanted a normal cup of hot chocolate too, so alot of fussing about with the hot chocolate from tassimo. Not sure how much better it is with the other machines though
#33
I have just bought a Tassimo T40 from argos and I love it, so easy to set up and use! I didn't think the hot chocolate would taste as nice as when I make it with milk but it does, OH thinks the coffees good to (I don't drink it) and I have just tried the twinings tea this morning and good result also! So wish I had bought one years ago lol
#34
Nespresso all the way!! Absolutely loved my machine.
#35
I hadn't even heard of the dolce gusto! That looks pretty good too!
#36
I had Tassimo and Dolce Gusto machines. Tassimo was the first I've tried (maybe got used to it) but later had a bargain to buy Dolce Gusto and I couldn't stand the taste. Another thing was some of the tastes like Caramel Machiatto which are online exclusive... probably used it for a week and got back to Tassimo. Latte Machiatto is great with some Caramel Syrup if you like it that way. Bought a Delonghi pump machine on Black Friday deals so stopped using the other ones. :)

I'm another who has had both.

Tassimo milk changed this year.... it is now claggy and leaves a thick taste like sterilised milk. In fact I have my Tassimo away.

The Nespresso is by far a superior machine, and drink.

My recommendation is to buy a Nespresso, but you must also buy the Aeroccino to get the use from it The Aeroccino addition means you can do lattes, cappuccinos etc.

Add some of your favourite syrup for never ending flavoured coffee options.

The Aeroccino is already great to use in its own for hot chocolate. It really does make great frothed milk.
