I want to buy my two boys a laptop (or netbook) each for Christmas. I don't have an endless budget (£600 ish for both). My eldest who is nine is always on my PC in the office. They do want to play games on them, but not necessarily the very latest cutting edge games as they have a PS3 and Wii for that.

Can anyone give me a bit of guidance? Are netbooks really worth the money - the spec seems so low. What spec should I look for (dual core?) - I'm a bit lost.

Thanks

2 x Samsung NC10 from Argos @ £249 - and £100 change for you!

The netbooks are surprisingly well constructed and do most things that anyone would want to do - not high end games obviously and there is no built in dc/dvd drive but you could buy one and still be quids in.

I bought a Samsung NC10 for my parents last xmas and it was so good I got myself one too and rarely touch my Acer laptop as the NC10 leaves it standing....

If they are going to be on it a lot id seriously consider the NC10 with the 6 cell battery, fantastic battery life, to save them being plugged in charging up all the time which is more likely with a laptop
