Hello I live in a new build 3 bedroom house. The devices connected to the network/internet

2 nest protects
Nest thermostat

I am currently running my internet through a netgear D7000 but with recent news I am looking to use a VPN (ip vanish) on my router.

Option 1 - replace the d7000 with a separate modem and custom firmare on one of the following r6400, r7000 or r8000 all routers are available to me. Any suggestions which router?

Option 2 - not sure if this is possible keep the d7000 and use a develo 1200+ power line to one of the above routers and have 2 wireless network networks

Thanks for any assistance
