An elderly relative is 77 she lives alone and has carers come in, she has some savings, so likely not to be getting hand outs at all from the government. She pays for her own carers and owns her home. She has many health issues and the heat is needed come winter, the boiler needs replacing urgently. I wondered if there was any schemes which could help her with the cost of a new boiler as someone quoting £3k.

many gas supplier have to give give few boiler and or insulation for free. I got mine from British gas, took around 5 months which is normal.
some criteria are, your boiler need to be over 8 -10 years old, your annual income needs to be 16k, or get pension credit or get tax credits and so on.

All of the above but in the meantime buy a couple of oil filled electric radiators to heat the house while it gets sorted x

3k is someone trying rip them off unless it's a massive property just a simple replacement shouldn't be over 1200/1300 pounds say for a half decent worsted Bosch with around 5 years warranty fitted upto around 32kw or even 34kw one. get few more qoutes. but if they are entitled to a grant they do them quite fast these days with 3to4 weeks speak to a few differnet companies in ur area who do them and one of them will be able do it faster than others as they need beat each other to get the money for it so u could say to them the fastest gets the job

Please stop blowing kisses at me. Instead, back up your nonsense that anyone earning less than 16k with a 10 year old boiler can get a free one.

You need to be on some kind of benefits; not just earn below 16k like she said.

The free boiler scheme isn’t open to everyone unfortunately. You have to be on benefits to apply and the criteria is very strict.

If you are earning less than £16k as a household then you should be getting Council Tax Benefit and/or other supplementary benefits or assistance - thus qualifying you for this scheme.

A person earning 15k wouldn't get any benefits except maybe working tax credit which doesn't qualify for a free boiler

Then again, sofiasar seems to know everything about claiming and benefits......

Incorrect. Every energy supplier has to make targets. If they are missing targets the rules are flexible.
