NEW - Christmasshopper's Christmas Shopping Thread

Those of you who were here last year may remember the Christmas Shopping Thread. The way it works is this:
Post on this thread a list of who you need to buy presents for. Also give the age of the person, whether you will be giving or posting the present, how much money you would like to spend and any other information you think may be relevant. Then just leave it with me and I will look for your presents and come back with my suggestions. I will also look for money off vouchers and cashback links to save you money.

I need to buy a present for my nephew - he is 20, would normally spend £10-£15, will be giving the present, not posting, he likes "weird" alternative music (very LOUD!!, god I sound sooo old and I'm only 34!) , he's not really into sport, wears alternative style clothiing and drinks a lot!

I am always stuck with what to get him!

This sounds so much like my son I'm going to take his advise on this one. I just have to catch him in between his getting out of bed time and going to the nightclub. As you can imagine that is a very small window of opportunity at weekend! It might be Monday before I get hold of him.

I've taken advice on this one from a few 20 year old boys and this is what they said:
If your nephew has got hair and likes to style it then hair styling products is the way to go. They suggested gel, wax and styling creams of a well known make not supermarket own brands. These are cheaper to buy in the shops than they are on line.
If he doesn't have hair then go for smellies. They suggested Diesel which they say is a cool name and a nice smell but doesn't cost the Earth.

Use the Quidco link for 5% cash back and there is a 5% discount voucher in the vouchers section.

Ok I'm getting old and can't remember what kids are into anymore.

I'm looking for a present for a 2 year old (3 in April) he's really into puzzle and solving things, loves tractors - but has just about every tractor toy out there.

Looking to spend up to £30

Any ideas?

Yes. Duplo. It is big Lego, made by the Lego people for little kids. It is ideal for tiny hands with the added advantage that it fits to normal size Lego. So as the child gets older he can use the two together. There is a Duplo tractor:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-Duplo-Legoville-4969-Tractor/dp/B000BVMAJM/sr=1-10/qid=1162980372/ref=sr_1_10/026-3684757-7920436?ie=UTF8&s=kids
Amazon do lots of other Dupo too. Free delivery over £15. Search for Duplo on the Amazon page and you will find lots to choose from. Personally I would go for the bucket of bricks, but if the child loves puzzles he will enjoy any or all of the Duplo. You could help build his collection by buying it for his birthday too.
A hint to his parents:
When the child plays with Duplo (or Lego) play with it on a sheet on the flooor. Then when he's finished just grab each corner of the sheet and lift it up. It gathers all the little bits up in one go instead of having to pick them up individually.

Hi,

My nephew who is just 17 is into golf and we only really give tokens of presents for them, spend around £5 min to £10 max.

His brother is 15 and is into fishing, same spend again, £5 - £10.

I want to give my parents a Satellite Navigation system I think a TomTom, want one for us also. Want it to have the speed camera alert on but dont need europe roads on one but would like it on ours.

And finally portable DVD players, we need 3, I'm sure they were cheaper last year. Spending as little as poss but not for the cheapest if you get me!!

Best deal:
Curry's Matsui 7" portable DVD player £64.99 3% cash back using the Quidco link. 10% discount code in the vouchers section.

Other deals worth considering:
Argos Acoustic 7" portable DVD player £64.89 £5 gift voucher if you spend £50, so buy them seperately to get £15 worth of vouchers.

Tesco Direct TechniKa 7" portable DVD player £64.50 3% cash back using the Quidco link

There is a Tomtom One for £166.99 delivered in the Hot Deals section. This is an excellent system. You can download the speed cameras from the internet (in theory, we have had one since last Christmas and still haven't managed to do it! Plenty of people have given me instructions on how to do it. If you do a search on here you will find all the simple to follow instructions I have been given. Some members have even mocked my inability to do it because it is so simple. Maybe it is me who is too simple! Or maybe I'm just too old to understand these new-fangled things!)

My prefered suggestion:

Lynx gift sets from Tesco. £4.89 each 3 for the price of 2 until 14.11.06

Or if you want Golf & Rugby related gifts:

Golf for Dummies DVD from Amazon £3.97 + £1.49 P&P (RRP £12.99)
Go Fishing: Masterclass DVD from HMV £4.99 including delivery (RRP £5.99)
#34
Fonze,
Do you want something Rugby related or do you think your nephew would prefer a game for his xbox?
#35
Thanks for that, its great!!!

Am still looking at the DVD players, can't decide which to go for or whether to maybe wait until after Christmas to see if the "well known" makes come down in price a bit. But will probably sort it before.

The Lynx sets sound great, will definitely go for those, Tesco here I come!!

The TomTom One deal in the Hot Deals section I can't find, have searched for it but it brings up lots of threads which I can't see relate, only the 1 about the F20 Navman?? If possible can you point me in the right direction, sorry to be a pain.

My Younger brother is 14 and wants Need For Speed Carbon for XBox, (not xbox360)
would be great if some one could get the best price for me.
by the way great thread

Need For Speed Carbon

The best price I can find for this is £29.99 available from Amazon, BlahDVD, Play.com, Gameplay & SoftUK.
Using Quidco links you could get 5% cash back at BlahDVD or 2% cashback at Play.com. There is a £2 voucher in the voucher section for BlahDVD.
Therefore, the best deal is BlahDVD, unless you already have a Play.com voucher from a previous promotion.

Look out in store (or on Ebay) for £2 off beauty and toiletry coupons if you spend £8.
I used one yesterday and it brought the price of Lynx gift sets down to £7.78 for 3 gift-sets (£2.59 each).
