I had my new Kindle Paperwhite delivered today and have set it up and updated the software BUT the screen kind of flashes whenever the image changes. I know it's not like an Android tablet so don't expect it to be a smooth when new images come on the screen but surely the lag can't be this bad can it?! Is this normal or is my device faulty?
Any help will be much appreciated! TIA

I'm not sure what you mean by 'flash' but (all?) e-ink screens first turn the whole page black and then flip the white 'pixels'.

You can see an example here from a Kindle paperwhite: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifFigNSXICQ

Doh! THANK YOU! I didn't think to look on YouTube to see one in action. Seems all is ok with my Kindle but it will certainly take some getting used to - it's giving me a headache at the mo but maybe it's coz I am changing things on the screen a lot while exploring it!
Anyway, THANK YOU again!

Stick with it.

You won't even notice it in a day or two.

Then you will probably never want to hold a bulky, heavy book again, especially when lying in bed reading!

Thank you as well Hottoast! You were (of course!) right. I used the Kindle to read in bed last night and it WAS so much easier than my usual struggle to keep a book in the right position. The flashing/lag still irritates me but it only happens when I'm selecting things on the screen so no problem at all when actually reading. I will definitely be sticking with it - have to really as I have about 200 books to get through thanks to all the free ones Boz keeps suggesting!
