New LG TV...totally messed up channel order?

I'm hoping you knowledgable folk can help with some TV advice :)

I purchased an LG 42LN575V from John Lewis yesterday (for £479 with 5 year warranty, which seemed like a good deal).

The picture quality is lovely, but it's being hugely un-Smart in its channel setup.

We have FreeSAT, and the previous cheap box had the channels working all fine. However, this TV scans and picks up several hundred channels, with multiple repeat entries (6 x Channel 4, 5 x ITV3 etc) and no logic at all to the ordering.

I read somewhere online to set it for Astra 28.2E (which has given me the current mess) but I'm not sure if I should change the transponder setting?

Has anyone else come across this? This is the first time I've come across a HDTV fully messing up the channel ordering!

When you were setting up your tv did it ever ask for your postcode? Because if it didn't you might not be getting freesat.

Have you updated to the latest firmware

It did a 500mb update automatically when it was first turned on, so I'm assuming that's the newest firmware?

It didn't ask for the postcode, no. But it only has the satellite cable plugged in, as there's no normal aerial here.

Freesat requires a Post Code, are sure that it is set to Freesat?

Probably in general satellite mode, switch it to freesat instead.

I agree ^^^^

I knew it'd be me being a spaz oO

So the TV has been plugged straight into the sat feed...so it will pick up the channels, but as it doesn't have a FreeSAT tuner, won't make any sense of them?

Guess I'll have to just go back to using her awful FreeSAT box for now then!

I have the same TV and am having the same problem- its picking up every station under the sun (all BBC regional channels etc and none of them are in the right order) I have tried to factory reset on many occasions, entered my post code and i'm not sure why it's still not working. I am not much of a tech wiz so please explain in laymen terms! I Don't have a box or anything, the tv is simply just pluged into satellite into the back and then into the wall- is this right? Sorry If this has already been answered but please help.

I got here via Googling this problem, and then figured out a solution. I'll post it here for any future Googlers.

In the same settings menu that you'd find the auto-tuning option, there's a "programme edit" submenu. In here you can select channels, then hit the yellow button to skip them. They now won't show in the TV guide. To re-order them, select the channel you want to move, then hit the move button at the bottom of the screen then select the location you'd like it to be. You can move whole blocks of channels to keep, for example, all the BBCs together or whatever you want. It's taken me about half an hour to go from a disorganised mess to a clean TV guide with the same channel ordering as standard Freevieq.
