New Mobile Phone needed for daughter - advice please.

Hi. I will be getting a new mobile phone for my daughter (13) for her birthday and need some advice on the actual phone and whether to go PAYG or contract or sim only on an unlocked phone.
What we are looking for is;
1. a touchscreen phone (she is set on one!!)
2. a good camera with a flash (needs to be a decent one as she would use it as her main camera).
3. Mp3 capability not necessarily important - she already has a player but most come with this anyway.
4. Wifi capability but potentially would also like to get bundled internet if it wasn't too expensive.
5. probably only needs about 200 mins per month talk, uses texts a lot more.
6. she likes Orange because of the cinema tickets thing (not that important though)
5. looking to spend around £100 for PAYG or maybe consider a contract at betwen £10-15 per month - dont want to be tied to over £15 if possible.
Many thanks.

Personally i would get a PAYG as i wouldnt want my daughter loose with a contract, id end up having to sell a kidney to pay the bill

Yep, Having never had a contract phone, I only recently found out that if you go over limits on calls/texts you get charged extra. I was under the impression that it simply wouldn't let you make calls/texts......obviously wrong.

Buy a phone and a decent PAYG sim may be the best way to go....still confused on the phone though.

my daughter is almost 12 and has just bought the Samsung S5560 Marvel with £10 airtime added which ticks all the boxes like your daughter it had to be touch screen. Works out to be £99.95 from E2save delivered. think they are part of carphone warehouse so should be unlocked.

Daughter opted for asda mobile sim which for low users has best rate for PAYG also doesnt run out each month.

Looks good, does it have a flash with the camera? Although was really looking for a camera around 3.2 mp.

Now that look what I was after - comes up as £139-95 though which was more than I was looking at spending. (£7-50 Quidco though for a PAYG).

How and when did you get it at £99-95??

If I could get it for that I would go for it.

here is the s5560 from e2save for £99.95 including £10 credit, but its a clearance handset

yes its the clearance one from link in above post, it hasnt arrived yet but im expecting it Monday, i can let you know how the condition is ect, it will likely come in an unbranded box but hey whats a box! still has 12months warranty so i dont think there is much risk, i doubt they would send out a really scratched up handset.

i dont know about all companies but know 3 will lock ya contract, so you cannot go over the minutes and texts, also tmobile do a ufix plan, which is a contract but once they have used their minutes and texts you can either wait for them to be reset or you can top up like a pay as you go, my daughter was on this for the 1st few years but have to admit only because at the time i was wit cpw and they kept doing cashback deals on them, they all came with crappy phone but after cashback they where free

Thanks to all - going to go for the Samsung Marvel I think - looks quite well equipped.
CPW have it at £129-95 and Quidco £5 so I'm prepared to pay that bit extra.

Let me know what the clearance ones are like - if they are Ok I might take a punt on one and save £30 odd.

Thanks to all for advice.

Update on the samsung marvel. came this morning in unbranded box complete with battery charger software disk and start up manual and the pc connection lead. Also the o2 sim card in envelope.

phone in an A1 condition looks brand new still has all protective strips on, phone is fully unlocked and has no branding on so in my opinion i would go for the reconditioned handset and save yourself a few quid.

good luck

T - MOBILE do a SiM only where its fixed 12mth deal is 600 mins unlimited texts and internet for £15 per mth..
Or a UFIX plan with new phone - samsung toco lite is a gd phone touch etc
On both of these plans its fixed at the costing so no HIGH bills. once minutes run out it stops till nxt cycle u can still use texts n internet tho ... T-Mobile is the only network wat can FIX the plan..

PAYG all the way so you can keep an eye on spending as apposed to passing out when the bill hits the floor.
