It's for my son and he has written the following as his requirements:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300
Geforce 7900 GS 512mb PCI-E
AS Rock Conroe 9450 - DVI (socket TTS)
Tagan 430 watt ATX 2.01 easycon sli compliant modular silent PSU
1 GB DDR2 800 mhz PC2-6400
Seagate Barracuda 80GB Harddrive
Firstly, WTF are those things he's asking for?
Secondly what's the best way / price of getting them?

Thank you for any assistance.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 = Processor
Geforce 7900 GS 512mb PCI-E = Graphics card
AS Rock Conroe 9450 - DVI (socket TTS) =Motherboard
Tagan 430 watt ATX 2.01 easycon sli compliant modular silent PSU = Power unit
1 GB DDR2 800 mhz PC2-6400 = Memory
Seagate Barracuda 80GB Harddrive = Hard drive

Look at Ebuyer, Komplett, Dabs for those things first but the motherboard and power unit will require independant searches as they are quite specific items.

Hello traf...:)

Perhaps its wise to ask politely first instead of the abbreviated swear word ;-)

I see from the hardware list that he's building on a budget and he's made some good choices to start with.

The components are thus:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 - the Processor

Geforce 7900 GS 512mb PCI-E - the Graphics Card

AsRock Conroe 9450 - DVI (socket TTS) - Motherboard (which needs to be double checked as I've never heard of this model or Socket TTS!!!)

Tagan 430 watt ATX 2.01 easycon sli compliant modular silent PSU - Power Supply (make sure he gets a good quality branded unit - they are essential - this should be powerful enough for this system)

1 GB DDR2 800 mhz PC2-6400 - Memory, the size and speed is important - this seems fine if running Windows XP but check the brand name (e.g. Corsair, Kingston, Crucial)

Seagate Barracuda 80GB Harddrive - a hard drive stores the data and the operating system (Windows XP) all new motherboards have SATA connectors so choose a SATA version of this drive (the new Seagate 7200.10 is good)

I'm assuming his hardwriting might be bad? the motherboard is probably an AsRock 945G (based on an Intel chipset) and should be socket 775. Many people recommend the AsRock 775DUAL-VSTA as a budget board.

EDITED LINE (SEE BELOW REPLIES)

Your best bet would be to use one of the suppliers from below (there are many others):

Hope that's some sort of intro...:)

Why would he purchase an e6300 over the e4300?

E6300 requires very fast memory to get anything good out of it, the e4300 is his best option by far, and cheaper.

Here are links to what he is after:
Processor:http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/121407
Motherboard:http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/119413
(This is a micro board, is this what he is after? Don't suppose it matters really.
Ram:http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/118305/rb/25262722399 (Or something similar as long as it's DDR2 and 800mhz).
Hard Drive:http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/113697
Graphics card:http://www.hotukdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48646
PSU:http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-007-TG

These are not necessarily the cheapest but just a guidline into what he is looking for.

Also what about a case, dvd writer? and don't forget the power lead.

Yes you are correct as the E6300 has a FSB of 1066Mhz which is faster than the 800MHz FSB of the E4300. This would require an extra £40-£50 for the memory (higher speed to match the FSB)....this is an oversight in my quick reply apologies.

Stick with the E4300 as its a brilliant budget overclocker and great!

Many thanks for the help so far and apologies for the abbreviated swear word!
I cut and pasted my request from another (not moneysavers) forum frequented only by adults!
