is HDMI plugged into the correct port, the Xbox has HDMI in and HDMI out, it needs to be in HDMI out.

Yeah it is in the 'HDMI out to tv' and the same hdmi port on the tv as the 360 was in? I might just simply doing something wrong

Yeah most likely culprit of this problem is there are 2 hdmi ports on the back of the xbox just make sure it's the left hand one (as you're looking square on to the back of the xbox)

Yeah definitely the correct one The thing is it doesn't even light up at all. Wouldn't it still light up and turn on if it wasn't even connected to a tv? Thanks

Try these things :
1.change hdmi cable
2.try switching on from the controller connected via microusb cable.

No it's the 500gb version
It's exactly this noise but without any light

Try to disconnected power from the main socket for 30 seconds that does a power reset on xbox one s power supply and try switching it on from other electric outlet. It appears to me a problem with the power supply unit.
#11
Try a different tv first if you hve one see if it works on that?
#12
When the hdmi is checked, try the power cable. mine came on initially to the turn off, only to find the ac part was not completely in.
#13
Hold down power button for around 10 seconds.

Hard resets the console.
#14
Send it back and exchange it for a PS4! :p

Just tried that with no luck. Does exactly the same with other power outlets.

But if all else fails does anyone know how Game will handle this if returned tomorrow?
It is brand new only opened today but was bought about 35 days ago for Christmas.
Hopefully I should get a new one there and then... I do still have the receipt.

Should light up even without HDMI plugged in. Does it beep in a specific pattern?

Exactly the same beep as this video but no lights at all

Will just have to return tomorrow to see what they do. Hopefully give me a new one. I'd presume they would return no problem

Yes I'm fairly sure it must be broken, probably the best option is to return it shouldn't be a problem. If the replacement doesn't work either that's when you need to worry :D

Took it back and they confirmed it was broke. Got a new one without a problem.
Thanks everyone :)
