I think a new law came into effect recently to allow residents to challenge the placement of yellow lines and other parking restrictions.

Check out https://www.gov.uk/government/news/right-to-challenge-yellow-lines-and-unfair-parking-charges

Good luck, but be careful not to get a ticket!

There needs to be a good reason why the council put double yellow lines and I'm certain they must have published the reasons and also should have letter dropped those properties concerned.

Contact your local council to gain more information.

Can you not make driveway on to your front garden?

Parking on a yellow line will, sooner or later, will get you a ticket.

Home owners shouldn't be forced by councils to spend thousands on a driveway.

Should definitely follow this up but be careful, you may get a ticket which wouldn't be nice!

Why not?.. The road is actually a Public Highway for us all to use, not a free car park.

Sell the car

I'm sure they must have informed you at some point in the past prior to doing it , or at least put a notice in the local paper .

If the road is public highway, then the Council would have consulted by putting up notices on lamp posts (usually) where they intend to put down yellow lines, they would also have placed an advert in one of your local papers with the proposal for the order for yellow lines. Its not unknown for third parties to put down their own yellow lines, so I would contact your District Council or County Council depending on who administers parking restrictions in your area and ask if there is a legal order.

thanks for the replied it's a 3rd party who put them down so i doubt they are legal but going to go to the council and find out more . never had a ticket yet even when traffic wardens have walked by so i doubt there regulated as of yet.

Also if u have lines in front of your property it used to be that if u apply to the council they will drop the curb for u for free, i dont know if this is still in force.

Why is ask becoming more moronic?

You can do nothing except park elsewhere!
