No sound via tv upstairs

Okay so ran into a little problem last night.

I decided to watch the terrible football upstairs and when turning the TV on there was no sound

I checked all the wires and it was all fine

i then did the following steps

1. swirched the TV to a smaller one we have put away. This resulted in THE SAME ISSUE meaning it wasnt the tv
2. Changed the HDMI lead being used to another. this resulted in STILL NO SOUND on EITHER of the Tvs.

so the tv isnt faulty as iv tried 2 and the Hdmi isnt faulty as again i have tried 2??????
All i can think is its the Virgin box but i tried looking if it was muted and nothing

Any advice on what this problem could be? It was fine 2 week ago

Can you put the TV on downstairs and turn the sound up to max?

Maybe your virgin box thought Phil Neville was commentating again, and was doing you a favour.

My neighbour said to me, "If you don't mind me asking, every night at 7:00 we hear you and your wife start shouting and screaming. What's going on?"

"7:00? We're watching Emmerdale."

"So why all the swearing?" he asked.

"The TV's stuck on ITV, we've lost the remote and we hate Emmerdale."

Turn the Virgin off and on again.

It took him ages to turn her on in the first place. X)
