No.

BT charges the ISP a £50ish activation fee for making your line "broadband". All ISPs have to pay this. So, the reason for a 12 month contract is that so the ISP can write off that cost over the course of the contract. i.e. you don't think you're paying as its spread over 12 months.

You will find that everyone who offers you a "contract-free" service, like Virgin, will require you to pay the £50ish if you do cancel early.

Zen Broadband offering 1 month rolling contracts. However you need to pay activation fee of 47 quid for new installation. Or it is free if you are migrating from another provider.
I can vote for Zen - excellent and knowdledgeable UK support (no foreign call centers!), no 0900 support lines, no stupid "first line" script-readers.

BT Business broadband has a 3 month opt out if your not happy with it with no cancellation fees starts from £19.99 for 10gb download package at up to 8mb or £29.99 for unlimited 8mb access with a free wifi hub
