Hi All,

What does everyone make of this?

My Now TV Smart box freezes the picture on Live TV from time to time. Usually the sound continues but not always.

I contacted NowTV via livechat and they said it maybe down to my internet connection. I'm on Fibre and it usually tests at around 39MB and I don't have any issues streaming Movies etc.

So can it be down to my connection because

1) My connection seems quite good and
2) It's Live TV which is being frozen, does that really need a good internet connection?

My impression is that NowTV just don't want to solve my problem with anything other then switching the box off & on again, or blaming it on something that's nothing to do with them.

I've gone through 3 of the 'smart' boxes now. All died very fast, the second within 10 minutes of first switch on! All 3 failed with a different fault??
I've taken them back to Sainsbury's (because I bought them there :) ). They refunded me and they said they've stopped stocking them as they've had so many back?
I got it from Argos last year and don't have the original packaging. So I don't think they would take it back. :(
What's peoples thoughts on it needing the internet for Live TV?

It needs the internet to verify your account details to see what channels you can watch. I believe the "normal" freeview channels are not streamed but the sky channels are. Also EPG and overlays require internet connect to display. I had a slightly similar issue and found it to be linked to the aerial rather than the box. Downstairs plugged into roof aerial sometimes it would freeze on certain channels but when I recently moved the box upstairs running from an indoor amplified digital aerial it has never frozen once on the live channels.

I'd buy a new box. Argos is doing the box + 3 months entertainment for £14.99
