Nus card for everyone (should this be allowed as a deal?)

I really think that this should not. From the posts most (all?) people are simply using it as a way of getting products and services more cheaply and 'posing' as students with no intention of following any course.
I am all in favour of legitimate full time students whatever their age being able to claim these things. If fact, I think a broader interpretation should be made of the term 'student' in order that more may be able to claim.

I personally don't see what the problem is, if there were a major issue then it wouldn't be so easy to get the card, and to be honest why should students get all these extra discounts? What about the people who work hard and pay the taxes that student don't pay ? When myself and my partner and our parents went to college there was nothing like this.

Once again a "helper" giving bad advise, I wonder if Holly also thinks it's acceptable to commit benefit fraud, because you can? And it's just another system that open to abuse!

Not giving advice to anyone... plus that post was my personal OPINION. What is your problem?

I dislike retailers that offer certain sections of society discounts, ie 10% off for students or 10% off for pensioners on certain days etc. I have absolutely nothing against students or pensioners (funnily enough I have both in my family, lol) getting a deal so don't flame me, I just feel that if a retailer can offer these discounts at times then they should offer them to everybody not just students or pensioners.

Why why why should they discriminate against the rest of us!!!!

I have a student son and believe me I know many of his 'student' acquaintances with no intention of following any courses and 'posing' as the general public......

There was no advice given. No need to be so harsh.

Taking that your holly1985 I'm assuming you were born in 85, youngsters today think the world owes them a living and everything else, these benefits are in place to help genuine people who need them, not for people to abuse! I see you also didn't respond to my question. If is just as acceptable to defraud the government benefit system!

Do you understand the role of a 'helper'?

The idea isn't that they answer every question in Ask and give out amazing advice. It's that they move threads, tidy things up, add images where necessary and escalate things to mods if needed etc.

I know right from wrong, I do not agree with benefit fraud but what does that have to do with this thread?Nothing.

You accused me of giving bad advice, however I haven't given any advice....I purely answered the OP with my personal opinion.

If you disagree with me then that's fine you are entitled to disagree, just as I am entitled to have an opinion, Please don't pull the age card it's not big or clever to be ageist.

I don't believe "the world owes me a living", I have worked hard for what myself and my family have, I have paid my taxes and I also do alot of voluntary work in our local community along with my partner.

If you have a problem PM another member of staff or use the contact form http://www.hotukdeals.com/contact

but as a helper on the site your quite happy for people to post deals that could lead to fraud and misuse!

Dear me Victor you are like a dog with a bone...the deal that this post is about is a genuine deal that can be had by anybody who wants to sign up to the course and then get an NUS card. If it is abused by people not doing the course then that is their problem and not HUKD's problem. How people use or abuse it is down to them.

Are we going to ban mis price deals, maybe not allow code stacking deals (that shouldn't be stacking)? There are many things out there that can be open to abuse but that is down to the person doing it and not necessarily the deal posted.

As for a 'helper' giving their opinion then I for one think they have every right to, there was no advice implied and they have courteously given you a link to speak to admin if you have a problem with them which from my view you do have.

It is the way this was posted not 'Here is a cheap office course, oh, and by the way if you do it you (not anyone) can get an NUS card'. It's 'a free NUS card to anyone by following some rules and you don't have actually be a student'

Some deals are 'banned' (not allowed) for other reasons. This one encourages fraud. Real students don't need to do it.

I don't think there are any written rules regarding 'deals' Do helpers represent the views of the site? I know nothing :)

You can twist things whatever you like jasee but here is the exact wording of the deal....rather than your made up delirium.

"I have found this course on wowcher for £9 at e-careers and buying nus card at £12 totals £21 for everyone. I tried this few months ago and would recommend it. I am enjoying the course which is double bonus.

This is my first deal so be kind."

So this member posted them exact words and actually says he is enjoying the course but you read it as "'Here is a cheap office course, oh, and by the way if you do it you (not anyone) can get an NUS card'. It's 'a free NUS card to anyone by following some rules and you don't have actually be a student'"

Say it how it is or don't bother, in my opinion....if others in the thread decide to abuse the deal that is not the fault of the OP or HUKD.

The title says it all

"Nus card for everyone at £21 and free course @ wowcher"

The poster is not 'to blame', it's not his fault that you can get an NUS card simply by paying a small amount of money.
Just, in my opinion, such things should not be allowed here. No genuine student needs this deal, they can get an NUS card without it. Personally, I think the criteria for being a 'student' needs to be widened, but that's another thing.

Just want to put it another way to all those getting their backs up over a helper or others not condemning it as vocally as they are.

You say its fraud, you say its not right, you say it shouldnt be allowed. What do you say to those very organisations (that accept NUS i.e topman, arcadia group) that dodge their corporate responsibilities and avoid paying tax? Is that any better?
