Hi , I also got my S7 today, I think after 14 days your will be under contract.
I followed what Chenzy said to do, but when I got to the 02 app, after downloading it I found the "unlock device" to any network it says " that information is unavailable at this time" So what do we do? Anyone help please. It does state on the 02 page that it is free to unlock, confused. Have 02 thrown a spanner in the wheel ?I thought it looked to easy to do.
Also did your phone get hot after you updated it? mine went surprisingly hot. Maybe its a setting on an app that needs optimising. Anyone?

Am I right thinking you are wanting to keep the phone but cancel the airtime?

If so then no you can't unless you pay off the device plan.

Once device plan is paid off you can get the phone unlocked for free and are able to cancel the airtime without any charges

I think the reason why the MyO2 app says 'unavailable at this time' is because your first bill hasn't been paid/generated yet, you'll be able to access that after your 14 days or when your bill is generated but as I said above, I don't think you'll be able to unlock your device until you've paid off your device. I have been lucky before and managed to get my iPhones unlocked 6 months into my contract but I upgrade every 12 months so the resale value will be more for the current phone when unlocked

apply for the unlock code through the 02 link provided in other threads. you should get the code in a few mins. also you can pay off device plan and cancel airtime anytime. does not have to be in first 14 days.

I used the live chat link to do this so maybe use it tomorrow morning. As long as you've paid your device plan off, you can cancel airtime at any point & they will unlock for you. But after the first 14 days, they require 30 days notice to cancel, just to get more money out of you

Hey guys dont worry i did the same thing this time last year... basically got the phone... you'll need to turn it on (obviously).. the day after i received it i called o2 to unlock it which they did straight away. The next day i called to cancel contract and they let me know that they will debit the money for the device and cancelled the contract. A week later they debited the money for the phone but also took out £6 off the airtime for that month... i called to let them know i hadnt used the phone since i received it and they gave me back the £6. So basically you shouldnt be too worried, o2 do a good job with sorting it all out and dont make things difficult.

You can cancel and still unlock your phone. You can call, go on online chat or use the link that someone here had provided straight away.

Please do not use any of your airtime otherwise you will be charged for it unless you don't mind. But the call to o2 is usually free.

Pay attention to your monthly bill just in case they didn't cancel and just phone them back and get refund and then that should be final.

The device needs to be paid off asap so I would do it straight away.

Lastly with regards the speaker I'm not sure about this but I would just ask an o2 rep or even 2 different o2 reps... Preferably on chat and then email the chat to yourself. The option to email to yourself usually becomes available at the end.

I hope all that helps!

Don't be afraid to call they're usually really helpful, friendly and co-operative. If they're not just hang up and try again lol!

Thank you all for your helpful comments, it has put my mind at ease. I will live chat them 2mro & ask for the unlock code, then pay off the device & cancel the airtime. I'll post back any news , thanks again.

PS Anyone had a problem with the phone getting hot, like I stated? My old S4 use to do it, but you don't expect these newer models too.

Regarding the phone getting hot :

Is it whilst your phone was charging? Because fast charging does make the phone slightly warmer than usual.
However, I've noticed that with any android (OP3, S5, S6 and this S7) that whilst it's doing update, the back of the phone and the screen gets hot.

Yeah Nathan, The phone got hot during the update, mostly on the back, like you said.
Just an update on my contract.
I contacted o2 today, live chat wouldn't deal with it & pointed me in the direction of their 202 service. After 20 mins I got through to a human. She was a lovely Yorkshire lass & sorted it out for me. I paid phone off in full. She also stated I would still get my Samsung Speaker, just apply after the 14 days, which is great! . It was then on to their unlocking department, where they told me it could be up to 7days before its unlocked. Which is ok for me, as my Nano sim will only get to me by the 5th of Jan.
Ordered after seeing the smashing deal found by madscientis for £15. 20GB double data 5000 mins & unlimited texts deal from Virgin Mobile.

All in all I'm very happy, thanks for all your help, much appreciated.
