Hi I purchased a iPhone from O2 had the phone unlocked by them and have been using another network. The phone has since developed a fault and O2 are sending me a new replacement. Will the new phone be unlocked or will I have to ask them to unlock it? But if it's new and not been on their network as I no longer use or have an O2 sim how will that work? - worried?

It's a replacement so it has to be on the original terms to the previous handset :)
Depending on the phone it might not be locked at all, either way if the contract is up they still have to unlock it, if in contract they can make a small charge, normally around a tenner.

If you are still within your o2 contract they will unlock it for free

But as it's brand new replacement handset their sending me. would I need to put an o2 sim back into the phone so the IMEI number registers on their network so they can unlock it? As the problem is I'm no longer on o2 and now on a different network?

You may use a different network but do you still have an o2 contract?
#5
You'll probably find it locks to the first sim inserted

No, my contract is cancelled and phone unlocked from o2. But due to a fault they are sending a new phone to replace it, just worried it will be locked and how to get it unlocked as I have no airtime contract with o2 anymore?

What did you do?

Any iphone problems in future go straight to apple. Loads better to deal with and would have given you a new phone there an then.

put a 3 sim in first and it wont lock they are the only network that don't lock their sim if first used, at least that's the story on iphones not sure on others

What did you do?
I asked for another unlock but I hadn't cancelled my contract so it wasn't an issue. I suggest that you ask for an unlock via live chat explaining the situation.
