I managed to slice the end of a finger open with a very sharp knife yesterday whilst chopping shallots (and missing them). It bled. A lot, and I had to make a botched dressing. Several of them actually, as the bleeding continued overnight. I didn't sleep well at all last night due to the pain so this morning I had a close look at the cut and realised I could see the inside of my finger (tiny fat cells and the like). The cut is only 1cm long but quite deep. I put a butterfly stitch across it and re-dressed it and it has hurt a lot less today since I used the stitch. I do NOT want to waste hospital time by going to get it looked at. It's a very minor injury and does not need hospital attention.
The question is - have I done the right thing or is there something else I should be doing?
