Remove Zavvi from the list. Ordered over the weekend and they say 'backordered'. Doesn't loo k good...

why don't you just go out on the 29th in store and buy it....and don't give me the 'everywhere will be out of stock' arguement, everyone was worried about halo 3 being sold out when it was released, but you could get it everywhere.

I'd say there's no real way you're going to get it delivered on the 29th now, there probably would have beem very little chance of getting it on release day even if you'd ordered it 2 months ago.

Grand Theft Auto IV Order Information
Due to high demand for this product, we have sold out of our pre-order allocation for dispatch on April 28th. Should you place an order on or after the 8th of April, this will be for additional stock that we hope to dispatch on May 1st. Please check your order’s expected delivery estimate for more accurate information.

I'd go for Amazon if you buying online,or as said above go to a shop.

Sorry the Zavvi info is for the 360. I've ordered from both Tesco and Zavvi. Tesco still promise delivery and Tesco is cheap. If it is avaliable on the day I'll cancel the preorders, or take the cheapest if they both deliver. It's difficult to know if it will sell out - as a media event it looks good to sell-through on day one. Amazon were quoting more stock on May 1st so during that first week there will be a slow supply (as there was with San Andreas. Sold out first day but never really 'difficult' to get.

Absolutely not Amazon, the previous 3 items we ordered from there didn't arrive and after a week we went into our local Tesco and bought the stuff. Would never use them again or recommend!!

Could there be any shops likely to be open midnight for it?
You know how the bookshops do it for Harry Potter etc.

game and gamestation opened at 12 pm for halo 3, so maybe...
I really just can't understand why you guys think it will be sold out in-store...there is absolutely no way that every computer game store, electrical store, and supermarket in your area will sell out of it.
Just remember Halo 3 broke the record for games sold in a day (or was it weekend?), and that was only on the 360, AND it was still in stock everywhere.

This is on the 2 biggest consoles available (so in theory %50 market share each)...you will be able to get it instore on launch day.

It depends on where you live. Here we've a game..hmv..woolworths..2 tescos and 1 morrisons. That's it. Tescos could decide to sell at top whack - £39.99. Plus they could sell out. The only time I will really play is the bank holiday weekend. So the cost of me not getting a copy before then is worth a few quid to me. San Andreas brought queues outside stores; but GTA4 won't because of the lower ownership of the consoles. It all depends on where Take 2 direct stock, and if they want the 'story' to be sold out on launch day. Focussed around a 'holiday weekend' you may find new owners of consoles as well.....you just can't be certain what the market will do (look at Wii Mario Kart).

aww put your dummy back in!:-D

Don't be scare mongered....you will be able to buy in any of the supermarkets that stock games

trust me
#17
exactly...you WILL be able to buy it on release day, unless you only have one shop that sells games in the area....and happen to have a massive percentage of people living there who suddenly want to take up gaming.
As for paying full price, I'm pretty sure even the cheapest deals have only been around the £35 mark, so £39.99 is hardly a stupid price in comparison.

if you don't finish work till 5 then go to Comet, they are open till 8pm (most are anywa) and they are more than likely to have lots in stock as it is not the normal sort of place to go for games,

Mike..
