hey guys something that's really bugging me about this op3 dont know if its just me or if its normal but when i recieve an incoming call when the screen is locked then it appears filling the whole screen wtih the phone in the middle. usually and on most past phones i've owned there is a red color phone to one side & a green color phone to the other and u swipe the phone in the middle either right or left depending on if u want to answer the call or not. but on the op3 there is no red or green phone until i actually press on the middle phone.
when the screen is awake the incoming call doesnt take over the whole screen, instead i just get a notification at the top of the screen with it saying answer or dismiss but its just like a little drop down as if i got a text or something.
is this normal???
i'm used to the whole screen being take over with what I described above.

what options exactly, i see nothing that i can change to fix this!?

here is photos of what exactly is happening
hi guys i'm having a similar problem & its bugging me to the extent i may return the phone.
i have tried a factory reset and it is still happening.

when the screen is locked this is what appears when i get an incoming call:
https://s9.postimg.org/6i5lpk56z/op1.jpg
as you can see the red & green answer hang up options on the left & right are not appearing

when the screen is unlocked this is what appears - a notification style type thing instead of it taking over the whole screen
https://s12.postimg.org/tc5pghw55/op2.jpg

would really like to know how to fix this as i hate the way incoming calls are coming through right now & seems to be some kind of bug (know others arent affected).
might return the phone if i cant get it resolved

The top notification is standard android behaviour in Lollipop and beyond I think, Sony's behave the same. The top pic surely you can remember which side is which and you just drag in that direction.

The calling feature is normal. swiping right is answering n swiping left is cancel.
You also get the call notification feature on top when your screen is unlocked.. this is similar feature in my s6 too

My oneplus 3 also operates like this. As someone said earlier, swipe right to answer and left to ignore. Also you can swipe up to ignore and send a text saying you're busy etc.

If I remember rightly, if you hold down your finger on the phone icon when it is ringing the red and green icons come up.
#8
Yeah I can remember which way to swioe just feel kind that's beyond the point if the icons should be there....
I've never known a phone not to have the incoming call screen take over the whole screen as opposed to just the drop down notification
I guess I'm just concerned as not only is this not my preference it's that other one plus 3 owners have said their device doesn't behave like this hence me wondering if mine has a bug or sth

Why not download a third party app that will change the look of the incoming call screen to one you like better? There are quite a few on the play store.

What you are seeing is standard android 6 or 7 behaviour. The idea of when your phone is unlocked the smaller notification coming down from the top rather than overlaying a full screen is in case you where doing something inside another app at the time say like playing a game so you don't accept/reject a call by mistake. As other have said the only other way is to install a 3rd party app say like "Trucaller" which will bring back the older style notifications. I've two phones here both running "pure" untouched Android versions (6 and 7) on Nexus devices and both behave as you have screen shot above. Take a look around the forums and I believe I did see somewhere a rom which had the older style notifications but you could lose other functionality.

Yeah it'll be down to manufactures roms/ui's. Oneplus is pretty much close to stock android version. Only other phone I have that behaves the way you wish it to was a LG Leon (or maybe it is a LG Titan - pass!) running Marshmallow (Official LG rom) and it has the old full screen caller which as you say will be a LG skin thing. I think my workmates S7 Edge also is full screen incoming call (can't check off work on holidays :) )

yep other half has full screen incoming from a locked screen.
so if its standard on mm and nougat which the s7e is running why is it different?

Well seen as I've told you I have a Oneplus 3 and it does exactly the same thing as yours then it probably is meant to do it isn't it?

Manufacturers run different UI's to "Native" OS as a way to try and differentiate themselves from other devices. Oneplus UI is about as close to stock android versions as you can get. As just one example Samsungs could do split screen on some apps on Android 6 before it became a function within android 7. Some of the previous Oxygen functionalities (which only oxygen had) also made its way into the stock versions of android 6 and 7. This is why some people prefer android over iOS but also the same can be said in reverse.

This is an android 7 feature but might have been already included into the Oxygen MM build. Go to Settings>Apps>Phone>Notifications. Slider bar like below and change from "A - App determines importance for each notification" using the slider bar to the very right hand option "Always peek and allow full screen interruption" (you have to press the A to change it from being highlighted blue to grey'd out in the background before you can change the permissions slider)

block all (grey)
treat as priority (grey) - not sure if this is what i should enable to blue but it says "let this apps notificaitons be heard when do not disturb mode is set to priority only
allow peeking (blue)
hide sensitive content (grey)
show on lockscreen "blue)
disable persistent notification on lockscreen (grey)

and all those are at default settings.

Sorry it must not have been included into the oxygen build. Was worth a chance. It is standard functionality of Nougat but not MM though thought they may have had it included already. It is more or less extra kind of an extra functionality of the DNS (Do Not Disturb) part. The function you are seeing just means that even if you set your device to DNS that it allows that app (the phone in this case) to still alert yourself when you have phone in DNS mode. The new Nougat part expands that kind of further but taking kind off the DNS principle into while you are using your phone ie not going full screen when someone rings yourself while the phone is unlocked as you might be doing something else at the time or to block an app from causing any sort of notifications or adjusting what you allow it to notify you off.
