Hello,
I wondered if anyone had any recommendations of an online Air rifle site. I'm looking to get one for a present soon and hoped to get good price online -I've done a bit of googling but a lot of the sites look a bit dodgy. If anyone has any good experiences please let me know so I can buy with confidence.

Looking for fairly basic one from 100-150quid with scope if that changes things ?!

Cheers,

DB.

Yeah thats the site I was thinking of going for - looks a bit more professional than most and got full contact info that checks out.

Looking at these sites do bring out the John Rambo in you ! Why not get a bow while your at it - or even a catapult that can kill a small animal at 200yards - amazing !

I got a bow a few months ago lol

Now stop making me look at guns !!

Highly recommended, no affiliation, just a very satisfied customer.

thanks for these - http://www.airgunbuyer.com/ looks good but seems to cater for the high end of the market ! Some seriously bad ass looking kit on there !

I've seen a couple of good bundles on http://www.airsportdirect.com/ that are more in my range so reckon I'll prob go for them.

Thanks again for the tips rep added.

Not too sure on sites. But for a decent air rifle try the rat catcher, CO2 powered, .22, quick loading and decent price. I paid £120 for mine about 2 years ago, can get it with a scope and silencer. size is pretty much decent as its small and light weight.

Top one is my weihrauch hw57 with the BSA .22 special scope.

Second one is a custom beech stock webley longbow which belongs to my brother with a £44 silencer on it. I think the silencer is a daystate but cannot remember.

Third weapon is a gamp p70 co2 pistol .177

Both rifles are maxed out legally, 12 foot pounds. Both .22 and have killed many of rabbits near my old house. I purchased them from bury sports and to stay on topic they were a resonable retailer :).

hmmm - never realised how pricey they can get. Borrowed a friends to clean up some rabbits and did some target shooting with great results. Apparently he only spent 80 quid new on his which looks like a custom SMK B2. So I was looking at the XS19 thinkin it would be a step up but some reviews suggest its innacurate and not too great. THis is becoming a tough decision - the last time I looked this hard into something it was between Plasma and LCD TV's !!

liking the hw57 though ! But already bought my dad the entire box set of the Sweeney so budget definately falls short of one of them !!

I've got a gamo PT80 but i managed to break it as a bit of plastic broke off which is needed for to stop the magazine thing spinning freely, i then started fiddling which then broke it more so one day ill buy a new one.

I was chewing the cud with an old mate from school days the other week and we got talking about air guns an stuff and I seemed to recall the best pellets were called Sabu - they were solid brass with a plastic collar type thing.

My mate thought i was talking nonsense - which is not unusual - does anyone else remember using them.

Nice pictures by the way:thumbsup:

I know this is an old thread, but I would like some advice.

We need an air rifle for vermin control (rabbits and rats). We're limited to .177 as it will be used in Ireland. Ideally it would be scoped.

We don't want to spent a lot of money on it and we don't need a top of the range rifle, but it still needs to be accurate and be powerful enough to achieve a clean kill.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I do. Whilst about the same weight as a normal slug they were slightly longer but with a harder tip.

I used to have an air pistol that wouldn't break a bottle at 30ft, unless you used these suckers. The regular slugs would just deform and bounce off the bottle!

I remember them being pricey though!

Cometa are a reasonably cheap air rifle and they are good quality.
