Hi All. I've recently quit smoking and bought a smaller car so an managing to save a few £££ here and there. The money saved will likely be plowed into buying toys and gadgets from online forums, ebay and shops.

Now, my wife deals with all the accounts, the bills etc, so this is purely a pocket money type account that I'm after, I also want to keep it seperate from her (she shouts when I spend ...lol) and our day to day accounts.

* Being able to pay in cash is essential..
* Using it with PayPal and android pay is essential
* An online app is essential

I'm looking through a million sites, but as I'm not money savvy I'm not sure where to turn.

Anyone else been through the process? There'll be no overdraft, DD's etc, only somewhere to stick my pocket money.

Many thanks,

Rich

why can't you just use a normal current account?

As above. Just open an a/c at the most convenient bank/building society near you.
As you will only have 'pocket money' in there don't worry about best interest rates as you'll be only be arguing a few pounds at the most. If you don't want paper statements sent to the house opt for online only statements.
I have a Halifax a/c that I pay cash in at the counter and withdraw at the cash point. I signed up to the online banking facility and PayPal etc I linked up to the a/c.
P.s. Not a good idea to open an a/c without your wife knowing. What happens if she finds out and thinks it's your 'escape' money?

LOL.... escape money is a nice idea, but we're talking a few hundred quid at most (think I'd need more to escape the country and change my name). So just any standard account would fit the bill? I've been looking at online accounts as aside the the ability to pay in I can't see me ever needing the branch, all our accounts are with nationwide and she has online for everything, just wanting similar for my few £££. Is there any banking app that's stand out amazing or are they all much of a muchness these days?

Thanks for the advice.

Natwest current account.

The natwest app is great and if you've got a recent iPhone then it uses fingerprint recognition to log in which is handy.

You can link the account directly to PayPal, and also the debit card can be linked to PayPal (always try and use a debit card for the added visa protection).

Use any natwest branch to pay money in.

I suspect most banks have this, but I like the 'pay my contacts' where you can do bank transfers to people who have registered their mobile number against their account. Saves time digging out card readers etc for online transfers.

can't think how that is different in any way to any other major bank (apart from the touchID feature)

I was just saying that I like the natwest app.
He was asking if anyone can recommend an app. I recommend the natwest one!
I also find the touchID makes me more likely to check the account as its just so quick and easy to do.
